Within the framework of the State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and his wife, on the afternoon of August 31, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and his wife Lis Cuesta Peraza visited the Vietnam Military History Museum.
After laying flowers at the statues in tribute to Cuban military experts, the First Secretary and President of Cuba and his wife and the delegation listened to an introduction and explanation of the exhibition topics at the Museum. Writing in the Museum's Guest Book, the First Secretary and President of Cuba emotionally shared: "At this Military History Museum, a testament to the heroism and indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people, on behalf of the Party, Government and people of Cuba, we would like to express our gratitude to the generations who have devoted their lives to the cause of liberation, independence and defense of the Fatherland. Vietnam's historical actions are a source of inspiration for Cuba, because we share the same aspiration for sovereignty and social justice."
On the same afternoon, the First Secretary, President of Cuba and his wife and the delegation visited the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel). The First Secretary, President of Cuba and his wife and the delegation also laid flowers at the statue of National Hero Jose Marti (Tao Dan Flower Garden, Hanoi).
Earlier, on the morning of August 31, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and his wife Lis Cuesta Peraza arrived in Hanoi, starting a State visit to Vietnam and attending the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day. Welcoming the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were: Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang; Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Dang Khanh Toan; Deputy Head of the President's Office Can Dinh Tai; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang; Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long and a large number of people waving flags to welcome them.
