The series of activities held in communes and wards of Son La are an opportunity for ethnic people to review the heroic traditions of the nation, honor and promote unique cultural values, contributing to promoting tourism and socio -economic development of Son La.
The series of events kicked off with the New Rice Festival, which took place from August 30 to 31 in the mountainous commune of Ngoc Chien. The festival includes a ceremony and a festival, recreating unique religious rituals associated with the wet rice civilization.

At Don Ho Church, Muong Chien village and Sa Mu tree god church, Na Tau village, the shaman and people performed the new rice offering ceremony, expressing gratitude to ancestors and gods, praying for favorable weather, bountiful crops and the country's development.
The festival took place in a bustling atmosphere with many attractive activities, such as performing traditional costumes, pounding green rice, catching fish, stacking stones, “Buffalo Prince” competition, folk games such as swallow nest, stilt walking, men’s and women’s soccer, etc.

This year, the green rice pounding contest of Ngoc Chien commune left many impressions when the artisans showed off their dexterity and meticulousness in each stage, from roasting rice to pounding green rice. The "Buffalo Prince" contest also attracted attention with 17 "buffalo contestants" that were carefully cared for, thereby honoring the buffalo as the "capital" of the highland people.
On this occasion, coming to Ngoc Chien commune, visitors can also enjoy performances with the Northwestern folk music, praising the Party, Uncle Ho, and the innovative homeland; and experience traditional cuisine through a special food contest.

Not only creating a festival space imbued with identity, cultural and artistic activities also contribute to promoting the image of "Ngoc Chien fairyland" to friends and tourists inside and outside the province.
These days, at the historical-cultural relic of Dinh Chu, Phu Yen commune, the Xip Xi Festival 2025 was solemnly held. This is the traditional Tet of the White Thai people, recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2024.

The program includes incense offering ceremonies, ancestor worship, culinary contest, OCOP product display, traditional craft experience, folk games and bustling Thai xoe dance.
The highlight of the Xip Xi Festival is the art program with singing and dancing performances praising the Party, Uncle Ho, love for the homeland and country, while honoring the beauty of White Thai culture.

In the culinary competition of the Xip Xi Festival, 16 teams from villages and sub-regions brought traditional dishes such as boiled duck, grilled fish, five-color sticky rice, and banh it... made from local ingredients, both delicious and beautiful. The presentations clearly introduced the quintessence of White Thai cuisine, leaving a deep impression on visitors.

In the highland commune of Co Ma, the highland market took place in 2025, attracting thousands of people and tourists from inside and outside the province to attend and experience.
The Co Ma highland market recreated the highland cultural space with games of tug of war, tu lu beating, panpipe blowing, pounding rice cakes, pa pao and sports activities such as volleyball, badminton...

At this year's Co Ma highland market, there are 40 booths displaying and introducing agricultural products, brocade products, ethnic costumes, and household items, attracting a large number of visitors and shoppers.
The Co Ma highland market is not only a place for cultural and sports exchange, but also an opportunity to promote agricultural products, promote community tourism, and contribute to improving the economic life of the people.

At Moc Chau plateau, joining the bustling crowd to welcome Independence Day, Moc Chau Culture-Tourism Week 2025 opened with the theme "Moc Chau - Call of the season of love".
This year's event in Moc Chau Plateau is the largest of the year at Moc Chau National Tourist Area with many community cultural activities, art performances, folk games, and traditional sports.

The cultural camp space of communes and wards in Moc Chau plateau introduced to tourists and locals the beliefs, handicrafts, specialty products, performances of Khen dance, Xoe dance, bamboo dance or rice cake pounding competition, street cultural performances on Highway 6 attracted thousands of tourists to immerse themselves in the cultural colors of ethnic groups.

On this occasion, when coming to Moc Chau plateau, visitors can also visit the photo exhibition "Colors of Moc Chau plateau" at the walking street in Thao Nguyen night market; experience famous tourist attractions such as Bach Long glass bridge, Ang village pine forest, Happy Land, Ta So village... creating more attraction for "the world's leading natural destination".
In Bac Yen commune, from August 30, many cultural, sports and artistic activities were organized, such as: crossbow shooting, throwing con, walking on stilts, playing tu lu; folk dance exchange; embroidery competition; ethnic costume performance.

The art program "80 years - Radiant Revolutionary Autumn" with the participation of nearly 200 extras left many impressions in the hearts of people and tourists when coming to the commune in Bac Yen region.
In Chieng Coi ward, To Hieu, on the walking street, there were many performances praising the Party, Uncle Ho, and the innovative homeland, including drum performances, performances of traditional costumes, modern dances, and folk dances with the participation of nearly 400 women in red flags with yellow stars, creating a beautiful and vibrant image.

In Binh Thuan commune, the Red Cross Society of Tay Ho ward, Hanoi coordinated to organize the charity program "Highland Love Market", giving away more than 370 gifts along with cement and construction stones, contributing to the completion of rural roads with the people.

Cultural, artistic and sports activities organized by communes and wards of Son La also become meeting places for domestic and foreign tourists to experience, admire the natural scenery, enjoy typical cuisine, thereby contributing to promoting the image of Son La as friendly, hospitable, and rich in tourism development potential.

The series of cultural, artistic and sports activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 in Son La province are not only an occasion for community activities and entertainment, but also a way to honor the cultural identity of ethnic groups, a way for Son La people to turn to the Fatherland together, to remember the great contributions of the Party, Uncle Ho and generations of fathers and brothers who sacrificed for independence and freedom.
