Satisfied to witness the development of the country, the solidarity of the people

5:15 am: Veteran Dang Quoc Truong and his wife (born in 1955), from Chi Lang commune, Lang Son province, were present at Nguyen Thai Hoc street from 3 am on September 2 to wait to watch the parade.

In 1973, when he was just 18 years old, Mr. Truong joined the army, belonging to the 273rd Armored Brigade, participating in combat on the southern battlefield.

After the liberation of the South and national reunification, Mr. Truong returned to production in his locality.

"The 1985 parade was difficult at that time and we did not have the conditions to go to Hanoi to watch, so this time my wife and I prepared very carefully for the trip to the capital. My wife is also a veteran, participating in protecting the northern border in 1979," said Mr. Truong.

Mr. Truong and his wife traveled more than 200km from Lang Son to Hanoi on August 31, staying at a relative's house in Ha Dong. On September 1, the two visited the exhibition at the National Exhibition Center in Dong Anh. At 3am on September 2, Mr. Truong and his wife were taken by their children from Ha Dong to Nguyen Thai Hoc Street to enter the parade viewing area reserved for veterans.

"Because of the large number of guests, the organizers only prioritized veterans with guest cards and invitations, so we were not allowed inside. But today, being in Hanoi, in the atmosphere of the 80th anniversary of National Day, witnessing the remarkable development of the country, the solidarity and spirit of the entire people, we feel satisfied," said Mr. Truong.

Mr. Truong said that he and his wife will move across the intersection to watch the parade on the big screen.

The red flag with yellow star is shining brightly, souvenirs are "sold out" on National Day

From early morning, many people brought ladders, tables, and chairs to find a convenient place to stand, squeezing into the crowd on both sides of the road. The atmosphere was bustling, bright with red flags with yellow stars.

Along the street, items such as stickers, hats, and caps printed with the national flag are being sold vigorously and "sold out" as people rush to buy them to immerse themselves in the solemn but exciting atmosphere of National Day.
