
Previously, the Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit Association had petitioned relevant authorities to negotiate with the United States to allow Vietnam to use heat treatment for fresh dragon fruit when exporting to this market. Specifically, the province currently has one dragon fruit heat treatment facility (Fire Fruit Asia Company, located in Ham Kiem Industrial Park) that has been accepted by South Korea and Japan. Heat treatment helps preserve dragon fruit better and reduces transportation costs for businesses.
Currently, the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment is also requesting the People's Committees of dragon fruit-producing communes to closely monitor the dragon fruit growing areas that have been assigned codes to the People's Committees of the communes to regularly maintain these codes as required by importing countries. Along with that, they should review the area of dragon fruit currently under cultivation in the business stage in the locality that meets the conditions for registering a growing area but has not yet had its dossier established for the issuance of export growing area codes (MSVT). Localities need to strictly manage the authorization of MSVT use to packaging facilities; avoiding cases where authorization is given to businesses that do not meet actual needs, causing difficulties for the export and consumption of dragon fruit. This is because currently, MSVT for export to the Chinese market is jointly owned by the communes.
The leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment also requested that growing areas and packaging facilities strictly comply with the regulations of importing countries and the guidelines of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection regarding the export of fresh fruit; especially regarding pest management and pesticide residue levels...
