Over the past week, the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Tho, a member of the Hoang Chu General Production and Service Cooperative (Dai Hoa village, Yen Hoa commune), has taken advantage of favorable weather to improve the soil, make beds, fertilize, sow seeds and water.

Her family's goal is to quickly restore the radish growing area damaged after the storm; focus on fertilizing and improving the resistance of the radishes that have survived the storm.

“Compared to previous years, this winter crop was extremely difficult due to natural disasters. This was the third time we planted radishes, and the costs increased. Currently, the family has completed sowing 1 hectare and is speeding up to cover the remaining 2 hectares in time to supply products to the market at the end of the year,” Ms. Tho shared.

Along with Ms. Tho, many other households in the Hoang Chu General Production and Service Cooperative are also urgently replanting to avoid breaking the production chain.

Mr. Tran Viet Chu - Director of the Cooperative said: "The model of growing radish on sandy soil has been proven effective for over 10 years. Ha Tinh radish has delicious and sweet quality, so it is very popular with traders. Each hectare can yield about 20 tons, with an average revenue of about 300 million VND/ha. This year, despite the difficulties, people are trying to stick with the fields and restore production to ensure the crop schedule."

In Thach Lac commune, farmers in concentrated vegetable production areas are also busy going back to the fields to replant the winter crop with the determination to maintain a continuous supply of clean vegetables for the market.

Ms. Le Thi Huong (Bac Binh village) said: “After storm No. 10, we started to grow the winter crop again with key vegetables such as: mustard greens, Malabar spinach, cucumbers, green beans... For plants that can be grown in pots such as: squash, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes..., people proactively grow pots early to take advantage of the season and limit the adverse effects of the weather. As for short-term vegetables, we make high beds, cover them with temporary roofs, and cover them with agricultural film for protection. No matter how difficult the conditions are, we are determined to stay in the fields and gardens to take care of winter vegetables, ensuring our livelihoods.”

According to Mr. Hoang Trong Duong - Head of the Economic Department of Thach Lac commune: "Storms No. 5 and No. 10 damaged more than 8,000 m² of greenhouses in the area. The government is focusing on supporting people to restore facilities, repair greenhouses, clean fields, and reorganize production in traditional areas. The plan for winter vegetable production in the whole commune this year is 108 hectares, of which 25 hectares are in 7 concentrated production areas. We strengthen our recommendations for people to follow the crop calendar, choose suitable varieties, prepare the land carefully, apply balanced fertilizers and prevent pests and diseases in a timely manner. The commune is also developing a plan to support vegetable seeds and land preparation costs for people".

Currently, farmers in communes with a tradition of growing vegetables such as Dong Tien, Thach Khe, Cam Binh, Toan Luu, Can Loc, Duc Tho... have also simultaneously deployed troops to cover the entire area as planned. People have increased measures to prevent and control pests, especially common pests such as rats, fall armyworms, green worms, armyworms...

According to Mr. Phan Van Huan - Head of the Cultivation Department (Ha Tinh Department of Cultivation and Livestock), in the 2025 winter crop, Ha Tinh aims to cover and maximize the production area with suitable crops, ensuring safe and "secure" production; gradually accelerate the transformation of production structure and application of science and technology to improve productivity and product quality in winter crop production.

For small-scale farmers, it is necessary to produce in the direction of using high-yield, high-quality varieties that are adaptable to the climate and weather, and resistant to pests and diseases. For concentrated production areas, localities need to organize production in the direction of specialization, using high-yield, high-quality varieties, applying intensive, safe production processes according to VietGAP standards, in the direction of organic farming... to build brands, connect with the market, and produce "according to orders" in a stable, effective, and sustainable manner.

In the 2025 winter crop, the whole province aims to produce 5,060 hectares of vegetables and fruits, with an average yield of 66 quintals/hectare and an output of about 33,531 tons. By October 14, 2025, the production progress of the whole province will reach 31.2% of the total area.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is strengthening technical guidance, applying scientific advances, replicating safe-organic production models - VietGAP, while supporting farmers to overcome natural disasters, prevent pests and connect with product consumption.

To organize and implement the 2025 winter crop production to ensure targets, plans, safety and efficiency, communes and wards need to strengthen the direction and state management of agricultural materials in the area, inspect and strictly handle violations; replicate effective production models, models according to VietGAP and organic standards; proactively search and connect with food suppliers, purchase raw materials in the chain inside and outside the province, promote orders for production of products.

With the initiative from the government and the efforts of the people, Ha Tinh hopes that the 2025 winter vegetable crop will not only recover after the storm but also expand the scale of production and increase the value of local agricultural products.
