Dak Lak: Urgent evacuation of households at the foot of hills at risk of landslides

On the evening of November 24, Mr. Huynh Viet Trung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Son Commune (Dak Lak Province) said that he had issued an urgent notice of a major landslide risk at Hill Village 4 Yang Reh (Hoa Son Commune).

Accordingly, in recent days, in Hoa Son commune, there has been prolonged heavy rain, in the area of ​​​​Yang Reh Hill 4 on National Highway 27, a large landslide has occurred. By the afternoon of November 23, the landslide continued to slide down about 1m from the original edge, at the same time, long cracks appeared, posing a potential risk of a major landslide in the coming time. The landslide area is located near National Highway 27 and at the foot of the hill there are households living, posing a direct risk to the safety of people and traffic passing by.

Landslide at Yang Reh Hill

The Commune People's Committee has evacuated households at the foot of Yang Reh hill to a safe place. The commune police force has been dispatched to monitor and guard the surrounding area. However, due to the continued rain, the risk of landslides continues to increase; the Commune People's Committee has recommended that the provincial agencies immediately send a team of geological and technical experts to survey and evaluate the slide surface, determine the cause of the landslide and propose reinforcement plans (temporary and long-term).
