Dak Nong: Diversifying trade promotion solutions, consuming strong products

Increase domestic trade growth

According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Dak Nong province, in July 2023, the market situation of supply and demand and prices of goods in the province remained stable. Total retail sales of goods and service revenue in July 2023 is estimated at VND 2,108.5 billion, up 1.1% compared to June 2023 and up 18.2% compared to the same period in 2022. In the first 7 months of 2023, total retail sales of goods and service revenue is estimated at VND 13,795 billion, up 19.7% over the same period in 2022.

Promote Dak Nong's strong products through trade promotion events

The Dak Nong Trade Promotion Plan for 2023 has been approved with a total budget from the local budget of 750 million VND for the implementation of 5 projects.

Therefore, in the coming time, in order to promote trade and develop the domestic market, from October 26 to November 1, 2023, the 2023 Exhibition of Typical Rural Industrial Products in the Central Highlands - Central Region will take place, hosted by Dak Nong.

The Fair is expected to attract about 100 units and enterprises from provinces and cities in the region and provinces and cities nationwide with about 300 booths. The booths are divided into 3 areas: Area displaying typical rural industrial products; Area displaying rural industrial products, traditional craft village products in the Central Highlands and the whole country; and General trade and service area.

The fair aims to introduce and promote the image and achievements in industrial and commercial development of Dak Nong province in particular and the provinces, cities, the Central Highlands region and the whole country in general. This is also an activity to create trade links between manufacturers and businesses, investors; create conditions to promote production and business; connect industrial promotion, trade promotion, investment promotion, culture and tourism activities.

The fair is also an activity in a series of events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of Dak Nong province (January 1, 2004 - January 1, 2024).

Previously, the 2023 Central Highlands - Dak Nong Industry and Trade Fair was held for 6 days, from June 29 to July 4, 2023, as an opportunity to introduce, promote and honor typical rural industrial products, OCOP products, key agricultural products, typical products, specialties of Dak Nong province and the Central Highlands provinces to people in the province and outside the province. The event helped introduce and promote the image and economic achievements of Dak Nong province after 20 years of establishment, thereby making an important contribution to the strong and sustainable changes of the Dak Nong province's trade and tourism industry in the process of increasingly deep international economic integration.

In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade also organizes the implementation of a project to promote the consumption of goods with development advantages in mountainous, remote and isolated areas through the distribution system in the market: Building 02 models of goods buying and selling points to serve production and consumption activities in mountainous, remote and isolated areas in Dak Nong province.

At the same time, notify production and business units in the province to know and register to participate in the events: Festival of typical and famous products of An Giang and other regions in 2023; Exhibition of industrial and commercial products of Soc Trang province in 2023; support for connecting the consumption of OCOP products of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province; International Fair of Trade, Tourism and Investment of the East-West Economic Corridor - Da Nang 2023 in Da Nang city.

In addition, issue a plan to organize a project to support units producing strong, quality agricultural products in the province to conduct market research, connect with trade to bring goods to consumption in supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City.

Promote local import and export

Regarding import and export, export turnover in July 2023 is estimated at 72.6 million USD, up 6.5% over the previous month and up 8.8% over the same period last year, most of the main items increased compared to the previous month. In the first 7 months of 2023, the export turnover is estimated at 564.7 million USD, down 5.2%.

Import turnover in July 2023 is estimated at 39.6 million USD, up 3.3% over the previous month and up 75.8% over the same period last year. In the first 7 months of 2023, import turnover is estimated at 154.3 million USD, down 2.1%.

To promote local import and export from now until the end of the year, the Department of Industry and Trade of Dak Nong has submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration the implementation policy: Plan for e-commerce development in Dak Nong province in 2023; Project "Export Support" in 2023. At the same time, propose a list of enterprises that meet the criteria for the title of Prestigious Export Enterprise in 2022 to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Department also organized a trade and investment promotion delegation to New Zealand and Australia in 2023 to find a way to export local products abroad more strongly.
