- In recent days, the prolonged hot weather has led to a sharp increase in water demand. To ensure a clean water supply for daily use, Lang Son Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company has focused on implementing various solutions to maintain a safe and stable water supply for customers.
According to forecasts from the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, in 2026, heatwaves are likely to increase in both frequency and intensity, while extreme weather phenomena will continue to be unpredictable, putting pressure on ensuring water supply for daily life.
According to statistics, the province currently has 63,600 customers using the company's water supply, an increase of over 800 customers compared to 2025. The water supply coverage is mainly concentrated in urban areas and the centers of communes where the unit is assigned to manage the water supply system (excluding the former Van Quan district).

With a large customer base spread across many areas, maintaining a stable and continuous supply of clean water during the hot season is a top priority for the company. To meet the increasing water demand of the people, the water supply branches have proactively implemented various solutions to ensure safe water supply and prevent prolonged interruptions.
Mr. Vu Hoang Tung, Director of the Dong Dang Water Supply Branch, Lang Son Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company, said: Currently, the unit is managing and operating 4 water treatment plants and 4 pumping stations. On average, the unit supplies 2,300 m3 of water per day, meeting the clean water needs of 4,000 customers. During the peak summer season, the demand for clean water increases sharply, with the average daily water supply increasing by about 15% compared to normal days. Therefore, to ensure stable and continuous water supply for the people, the unit has proactively developed a water supply plan for the hot season; strengthened monitoring of water flow and pressure on the network to regulate and operate the system accordingly. At the same time, the unit regularly inspects and maintains pumps, electrical equipment, and pipeline systems; Inspecting locations at risk of water leakage and loss to promptly address issues... As a result, since the beginning of the hot season, the water supply system in the area has operated stably, effectively serving the clean water needs of the people.
Not only the Dong Dang Water Supply Branch, but all water supply branches under the company have implemented comprehensive solutions to ensure the supply of clean water for domestic use to customers, such as: proactively developing plans for safe and continuous water supply under extreme weather conditions and increased demand; reviewing and assessing the exploitation capacity of existing water sources; replacing old and degraded pipelines to reduce water loss; and strengthening inspection and timely handling of pipeline incidents... In particular, the company has also promoted the application of technology in the management, monitoring, and operation of the water supply system, such as: Dataloger water loss control technology; management and monitoring systems for DMA and DMZ areas... to control flow rate and network pressure, and promptly detect leaks and water loss.
Thanks to proactive implementation of solutions, the supply of clean water to customers in the province has always been ensured. From the beginning of 2026 to the present, the total amount of clean water supplied to customers has reached approximately 29,000 m³/day; the total amount in the first five months of the year reached approximately 4.3 million m³. The water loss rate has been maintained at approximately 25%, a decrease of 3% compared to the same period in 2025.
Mr. Hoang Van Tho, from Block 27, Ky Lua Ward, said: "My family has been using clean water from the company for many years. During prolonged heatwaves like the present, even though the demand for water increases, I find that the water supply is maintained continuously, without any prolonged water shortages or outages."
Mr. Duong Huu Thuc, Head of Planning and Production Department, Lang Son Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company, said: Currently, the company manages and operates 33 water treatment plants and stations. All water sources are treated according to technological processes to ensure compliance with the National Technical Standard on the quality of clean water for domestic use. In the future, to ensure sufficient clean water supply for customers, especially during the hot season, the company's planning department will continue to invest in upgrading the capacity of water treatment plants; expanding and improving the water supply network; promoting the reduction of clean water loss; and applying digital technology in the management and operation of the water supply system... In particular, the department has advised the company's leadership to report to the Provincial People's Committee to request approval for the investment in the construction of the Ky Cung surface water treatment plant (capacity of 50,000 m³/day) to meet the increasing demand for clean water from the people. Simultaneously ensuring water security and enhancing the capacity for stable and sustainable water supply.
By implementing a comprehensive set of solutions, from water resource exploitation and system operation to infrastructure upgrades, the company has been striving to ensure a stable supply of clean water for the people, especially during peak hot months. This contributes to improving the quality of life and serving the socio -economic development of the locality.
