Hanoi Symphony Orchestra performs romantic masterpieces

(Dan Tri) - On the evening of June 21 at the Hoan Kiem Theater, the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra will perform classical masterpieces with two young piano talents, Nguyen Duc Kien and Luu Danh Khoi.

People's Artist Bui Cong Duy - Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, shared that the June 21 concert is one of the special issues of the 2025-2026 season introducing two promising young piano talents of Vietnam who have had very convincing academic achievements in recent years, Nguyen Duc Kien and Luu Danh Khoi.

This is also one of the goals that the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra - Vietnam National Academy of Music sets out in the current period to train, foster and maximize the potential of young human resources for regional and international integration.

The Hanoi Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Nayden Todorov, Music Director of the Bulgarian National Opera and concertmaster Chuong Vu will perform a special concert program of Chopin - Rimsky - Korsakov.

The music night included classic works by two master composers in the history of Western music, Chopin and Rimsky-Korsakov.

In the first part of the program, the audience will be immersed in the profound, delicate and emotional musical world of Frédéric Chopin through two piano concertos: Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op.11, Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op.21.

The two works will be performed by two young pianists Nguyen Duc Kien ( Concerto No. 1 ) and Luu Danh Khoi ( Concerto No. 2 ). The two young talents will take turns as soloists, bringing new, powerful and emotional interpretations to the works.

These are all faces who have won many international awards and are expected to be the next generation of promising Vietnamese classical music.

Nguyen Duc Kien (born 2008, Hanoi), is a talented student of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, under the guidance of Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thu Ha.

Despite his young age, Duc Kien has achieved many remarkable achievements: Second prize at the Mozart International Piano Competition in Thailand (2019), Special prize at the International Piano Competition in Saint Petersburg (Russia), First prize in Group A at the International Piano Competition in Ho Chi Minh City (2023)... and many solo performances with professional orchestras.

Meanwhile, Luu Danh Khoi is a face that has made a splash with his expressive piano technique. He is currently studying for a Master's degree in piano performance at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee (USA), after graduating with honors from the Bachelor's program at this Conservatory...

The second part of the program was the most brilliant masterpiece of Russian nationalism, Capriccio Espagnol, Op.34 by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.

The work is a synthesis of rich symphonic colors and inspiration from Spanish folk music, and is also an opportunity for the orchestra to show off their skillful techniques through each movement filled with performance and festive spirit.

The Hanoi Symphony Orchestra - formerly the orchestra of the Hanoi Conservatory of Music - brings together many excellent lecturers, artists and students of the Vietnam National Academy of Music.

Not only making its mark at major domestic art programs, the orchestra was also chosen to represent Vietnam to accompany General Secretary To Lam on his visits to Indonesia and Singapore, marking a historic milestone as the first time a Vietnamese symphony orchestra performed abroad within the framework of a high-level visit.
