Ia Hrung Breaks Through in Sustainable Manufacturing

Ia Hrung commune is over 169 km² wide, merged from 4 old administrative units: Ia Hrung, Ia Der, Ia Sao and Ia Yok. The whole commune has 41 hamlets and villages with over 37,200 people, nearly 50% of whom are ethnic minorities. The large area, favorable climate, and fertile land are advantages that help Ia Hrung plan specialized areas for growing raw materials such as coffee, rice, fruit trees and some specialty species, creating a foundation for the commune to develop OCOP products.

To date, Ia Hrung has 16 OCOP products from 6 entities, of which 7 products have achieved 4-star provincial standards. Notable among them are the trio of instant coffee products from BaKa Company Limited and the Nhat Minh Anh bird's nest product chain from Tran Quang Dao business household.

Mr. Phan Ba Kien, Director of BaKa Company Limited, said: “We have invested in automatic roasting and grinding lines, vacuum extraction and concentration technology to preserve the original flavor of border coffee. Thanks to that, products such as Den Gia Lang, Gia Lang filter bags, and instant coffee essence have been certified with 4-star OCOP and are typical rural industrial products of the Central Highlands region. We are expanding distribution through e-commerce channels, initially reaching consumers nationwide.”

Similarly, business household Tran Quang Dao (Thanh Ha village) has built the Nhat Minh Anh bird's nest brand in the direction of closed production, from bird's nest house, preliminary processing, packaging to consumption. Mr. Dao said: "Ia Grai land has humidity and an ecosystem suitable for swiftlets. I built a bird's nest house in 2022, then invested in additional drying and packaging equipment according to HACCP standards.

We currently have 6 product lines, of which dry de-feathered bird's nest is the highest quality line, aimed at export. In the coming time, I will cooperate with other bird's nest farmers to build a clean bird's nest production chain, aiming to form a high-value agricultural product industry, in line with the province's OCOP development orientation."

In addition to the two typical entities above, Ia Hrung also has Nguyen Thi Nhung household as the owner of OCOP products of cereal powder and cracked dried macadamia, A Mi Tiep household with JO2 rice variety product, Xgreen clean agriculture household with seedless red grapes product... These products have gradually affirmed their position in the market.

Mr. Krung Dam Doan, Chairman of Ia Hrung Commune People's Committee, said: We identify OCOP product development as a sustainable direction, associated with the strengths of the locality. The commune government will continue to orient the construction of raw material areas according to safety, organic and environmentally friendly standards. At the same time, actively coordinate technical training, support farmers in accessing capital, building processing and preservation houses and promoting trade. The commune will continue to accompany the subjects to perfect the production, processing and development processes of OCOP products, and at the same time recommend superiors to invest in infrastructure for raw material areas. By doing these things well, Ia Hrung will have a breakthrough in agricultural development associated with new rural construction.
