Gia Lai: More than 500 athletes attend the 1st Ia Pa Commune Sports Festival

VHO - On December 9, the People's Committee of Ia Pa commune opened the 1st Sports Festival in 2025. The event gathered more than 500 athletes and attracted a large number of people to attend and cheer, creating a bustling, exciting atmosphere full of competitive spirit.

In the exciting atmosphere of the festival, the athletes' delegations were present in large numbers very early, bringing determination and positive energy for the first competition season of the Congress after the commune merger.

The program opened with the traditional torch relay ceremony performed by three outstanding athletes.

The flame was then received by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Liem, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, and lit up the Congress torch, demonstrating the will of solidarity, honesty and martial spirit in competition.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Liem said: "The 1st Ia Pa Commune Sports Congress in 2025 is an important milestone in the local cultural and social life.

The event not only aims to evaluate the mass sports movement in recent times, but also creates a driving force for exciting competition, contributing to improving physical strength, health and building a civilized and united lifestyle in the community.

The Vice Chairman of the commune also requested that the athletes compete with fair play, solidarity, and make every effort; the referee team work objectively and accurately; and the service departments ensure absolute safety to contribute to the overall success of the Congress.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented flowers and souvenir flags to the participating delegations.

The 1st Ia Pa Commune Sports Festival in 2025 has 10 competitions including: Men's volleyball, 7-a-side football, men's and women's table tennis, crossbow shooting, Chinese chess, sack race, stick pushing, tug of war, stilt running and athletics.

Immediately after completing the opening ceremonies, the central courtyard of the commune became lively with a performance by students of Ia Pa Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, demonstrating youthfulness, excitement and spirit of sportsmanship.

After the opening ceremony, the athletes entered the first rounds of competition, officially kicking off the exciting days of competition of the Congress.

Following the program was an impressive martial arts performance by the Karate and Vovinam clubs of the commune. The decisive and powerful punches combined with beautiful performance techniques attracted the attention of many delegates and people, contributing to creating an exciting atmosphere, cheering for the martial spirit and dynamism of the Congress.

After the opening ceremony, the athletes quickly entered the first rounds of competition, officially kicking off the exciting days of competition of the Congress.

As planned, the Congress will take place over 10 days, and will close on December 19.
