Ready for the "gold hunt"
At the 33rd SEA Games, swimming is one of the teams expected to bring home many gold medals for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation.

In fact, the goal of Vietnamese swimming at SEA Games 33 is to strive to win 6 gold medals (SEA Games 32 won 7 gold medals) when participating in 37/41 events.
The Vietnamese swimming team competing in Thailand this time is full of the best faces such as: Nguyen Huy Hoang, Pham Thanh Bao, Tran Hung Nguyen, Nguyen Quang Thuan, Vo Thi My Tien, Nguyen Thuy Hien,...
The Vietnamese swimming team athletes participating in the 33rd SEA Games have just completed their training camp in Nanning (China).
The team's coaching staff said that the training program took place at a high volume so that each athlete could accumulate expertise and physical strength, thereby creating the best preparation for the 33rd SEA Games.
Hung Nguyen Expectations
On the first day of competition, December 10th, Vietnamese swimmers will compete in five events. The qualifying rounds will start at 9:00 AM, and the finals will be held at 6:00 PM.
In which, the men's 200m medley has Nguyen Quang Thuan and Tran Hung Nguyen competing; the men's 100m backstroke has Cao Van Dung and Trinh Truong Vinh; the men's 100m freestyle is Jeremie Loic and Nguyen Van Quoc; the women's 200m butterfly is Vo Thi My Tien; and the women's 50m breaststroke is Nguyen Thuy Hien.

Notably, in the men's 200m individual medley, Nguyen Quang Thuan and Tran Hung Nguyen are expected to compete for the gold medal.
Hung Nguyen is of course the more highly rated name as he is the host of 3 gold medals in the men's 200m individual medley at 3 consecutive SEA Games (30, 31, 32).
At the 32nd SEA Games, Hung Nguyen was the first Vietnamese swimmer to win a gold medal when he finished first in the men's 200m individual medley.
At the 2025 Asian Swimming Championship, Hung Nguyen won the bronze medal in the men's 200m individual medley with a good time of 2 minutes 02 seconds 71.
Although he missed the SEA Games 32 gold medal by 2 minutes 01 seconds 28, the Army swimmer is still expected to have an explosive performance to win the SEA Games championship for the fourth consecutive time in this event.
In the 100m short events (freestyle and backstroke), Vietnamese male swimmers will find it difficult to compete for gold medals as these are the strengths of Singaporean and Thai athletes.
Meanwhile, Vo Thi My Tien and Nguyen Thuy Hien are expected to compete for medals in their respective events. Who knows, on a day of great competition, the two Vietnamese girls might create a surprise.
