Chau Tuyet Van: The SEA Games feel very strange...

Having just officially retired from the role of athlete after 16 years (first time participating in SEA Games was in 2009 in Laos, winning bronze medal), "martial arts hot girl" Chau Tuyet Van is still present in Thailand to cheer for Vietnamese taekwondo.

The girl born in 1990 took her parents and family to fly to Bangkok at noon on December 9 and arrived very early at the gymnasium at Fashion Island shopping mall to cheer for her teammates, starting the first gold medal campaign.

Chau Tuyet Van expressed: "Today I am very happy. I am not under pressure but still a bit nervous because I am in the spirit of supporting my students and friends to see how they will compete. I am very happy to go with my parents to attend a SEA Games for the first time, because when I was an athlete, I did not dare to take my parents to watch me compete, because I was afraid that I would be under a lot of pressure.

But today I have no pressure at all. My parents and I came to see how their daughter competed in this great playground. Today, my family and I will cheer for all the athletes of the Vietnamese team in Thailand."

We are confident that taekwondo will achieve its target.

Taekwondo competition starts at 9am today, but the Vietnamese team will only depart at 11am with the goal of bringing home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.

Specifically, we will compete in 4 performance categories: Standard mixed doubles (Nguyen Thi Kim Ha - Nguyen Trong Phuc), standard men's team (Nguyen Thien Phung - Nguyen Trong Phuc - Pham Quoc Viet), standard women's team (Nguyen Thi Kim Ha - Le Tran Kim Uyen - Le Ngoc Han), creative team (Nguyen Xuan Thanh - Tram Dang Khoa - Tran Ho Duy - Le Tran Kim Uyen - Nguyen Phan Khanh Han - Nguyen Thi Y Binh).

Chau Tuyet Van's feeling when coming to the SEA Games for the first time was very special: "At first I felt a little bit... "sad" because when I was an athlete I could enter and exit very comfortably with my badge, but today I had to wait a very long time.

But thanks to that, I understand the feelings of those who have always silently supported me, how they had to wait for many years to come to the field to support me.

Sitting here now, the lights on the stadium have been turned on, the nervous feeling of the old competition days is still back, but I am more relaxed, I am waiting for good results from the Vietnam team.

I am very confident that taekwondo will achieve its goal of 3-4 gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games. Looking at the training sessions, I see how hard everyone is working.

Vietnam is one of the strong taekwondo teams, so I am very confident in this SEA Games arena. I am very confident that without me, the taekwondo performance content will still be very strong, because the students practice harder and more diligently than me. I believe you will maintain your achievements, and even do better than expected."

Currently, Chau Tuyet Van is still involved in taekwondo as an athlete as well as nurturing the future of young athletes. Besides, she also opened the Hoa Huong Duong Taekwondo Club on Ton That Thuyet Street (Xom Chieu Ward - old address Ward 16 District 4).

The beautiful athlete expressed: "In the future, I hope to be able to open a bigger club to contribute to the development of Vietnamese taekwondo. As for my personal love life, I promise to try as soon as possible. But the good thing is that my parents love me very much so they still support me wholeheartedly."
