The SEA Games 33 arena was full of mosquitoes, but both the coaches and swimmers of the Singapore swimming team were delighted.

Singaporean swimmers enjoyed using electric mosquito rackets to kill mosquitoes during their breaks. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese swimming team focused on the recovery of athletes who had just competed in the qualifying rounds.

On the morning of December 10, the first 6 events of the 33rd SEA Games swimming event were officially competed at the swimming pool in the Huamark Sports Complex (Bangkok). After the qualifying round ended, the athletes "gathered" at the auxiliary swimming pool to recover as well as wait for practice and competition. There were many trees around the auxiliary swimming pool, plus the organizers had not yet sprayed insecticide, so the athletes were often "harassed" by mosquitoes. The Singapore swimming team had prepared electric mosquito rackets to kill these harmful insects.

Even a member of the coaching staff got involved. He even tapped the edge of the mosquito racket to hear more popping sounds.

On the first day of competition for swimming at the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese swimming team included Nguyen Quang Thuan, Tran Hung Nguyen (men's 200m medley), Vo Thi My Tien (women's 200m butterfly), Tran Van Nguyen Quoc, Jeremie Luong (men's 100m freestyle), Nguyen Thuy Hien (women's 50m breaststroke), Cao Van Dung and Trinh Truong Vinh (men's 100m backstroke). Only Truong Vinh was eliminated due to lack of experience, while all other athletes qualified for the finals. The finals will begin at 6 p.m. the same day.
