Warning about scams
In general, technology scams and cyber fraud are carried out in various forms, targeting all demographics, including women and children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas – where the level of education is low. In Cam Hiep commune, there have been cases where criminals have used digital technology in various ways to lure, gain trust, and steal personal information to defraud and seize property. The case of Ms. MTT (Suoi Coc village) is an example. Ms. T. said that in mid-November 2025, through the social network Facebook, a fake account posing as a delivery person messaged her. Because Ms. T. was still at work and unable to receive the package, the perpetrator sent her a link and asked her to check if it was the correct product she had ordered. Next, the perpetrator asked her to enter and take a picture of her citizen identification number. Due to her lack of understanding, Ms. T. complied with the request. As a result, she lost nearly 18 million VND from her account.

In particular, recently in the two villages of Suoi Coc and Va Ly, there has been a surge in scammers using social media to advertise online loans with simple procedures and quick disbursement, trapping many women in the villages. Some households have delayed repayments, causing interest rates to skyrocket; at the same time, the families and relatives of the borrowers have been subjected to harassing phone calls from these scammers.
According to statistics from the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department ( Ministry of Public Security ), approximately 70% of children and teenagers use the internet daily. They may face numerous risks such as seduction, fraud, psychological manipulation, and online kidnapping. In particular, 2025 saw tens of thousands of reports of online fraud, with 90% of victims being women who experienced sophisticated psychological manipulation, reflecting serious damage to their safety, trust, and mental well-being.
Practical actions are needed.
In the context of digital technology transforming all aspects of life, the Women's Union of Cam Hiep commune has proactively strengthened the dissemination of legal information and online safety skills through various forms such as conferences, competitions, theatrical performances, and integration into union activities. The Union also organizes training for its members and women on digital skills to protect themselves and their children in cyberspace; coordinates with local departments, agencies, and organizations to support vulnerable women and children at risk of harm; promotes the role and responsibility of families and communities in preventing violence, early detection, and timely support for cases of abuse or potential violence, helping them confidently access and use technology safely and effectively; and raises awareness of using technology (phones, the Internet, social media) as a support tool when feeling threatened or at risk of fraud.
