According to the latest report, Mr. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the Cambodian Olympic Committee, informed Mr. Chaipak Siriwat, SEA Games Council member, that Cambodia has decided to withdraw all its athletes from the 33rd SEA Games. As of 11:00 AM today, December 10th, Cambodia has sent an official notification to the organizing committee.

Previously, Cambodia had reduced the number of athletes and only registered to participate in 12 sports with a total of 137 athletes and officials. In the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games held at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok) on December 9, the Cambodian sports delegation also participated in the parade with 30 athletes.
Regarding this information, Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Attakorn Sirilattayakon, said that the withdrawal of the Cambodian sports delegation will not affect the 33rd SEA Games.
Minister Attakorn Sirilattayakon said: “Thailand has provided the best support since the Cambodian delegation arrived. The withdrawal is the right of each country. That does not affect the progress of the 33rd SEA Games, the tournament will still take place as planned.”

He also affirmed that fans in the Southeast Asian region will still enjoy exciting competitions at the 33rd SEA Games in the coming days.
According to the organizing committee, the withdrawal of the Cambodian sports delegation will affect a number of events, especially karate, when two competitions do not have enough athletes as required.
“In case the number of registered teams is less than three, the events may only award two sets of gold and silver medals. The Referee Council and the SEA Games Committee will carefully consider according to regulations,” said a representative of the organizing committee.
