Study secrets of female valedictorian
La Khanh Huyen, a 12C student at Tuyen Quang Province's Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities, has excellently won 29.25 points in block C00 in the 2025 high school graduation exam, with two perfect 10s in history and geography.

Sharing the secret to studying history - the subject that Huyen is most passionate about, she divides it into three stages.
In the first stage, I focused on mastering the basic knowledge in textbooks, especially the 12th grade program. At the same time, to easily remember and visualize the flow of events, female students often systematize historical milestones through mind maps, summary tables and timeline drawings.
The second phase is the time to practice each topic. Every time I make a mistake, I will note down that sentence to analyze the error and review that part of the knowledge more carefully. “In addition, I also often discuss and debate the lesson with my friends to remember it longer,” Huyen said.
In the final stages before the exam, I focused on doing comprehensive tests and mock tests in real time to practice my skills and exam psychology. At the same time, the female student also watched historical illustrative videos to increase her interest and better feel the atmosphere of each period.
For the remaining two subjects, geography and literature, Huyen also has her own strategy. “I am weak at geography, so I often watch videos, learn through maps, mind maps and ask friends,” she said.
As for literature, Huyen writes regularly and asks her teacher and friends for feedback to correct her expression. She also watches literature videos to improve her writing style.
Dad's story is the starting point
Khanh Huyen’s love for history began with the stories her father told her. “My father loves history. Every time he watches a program, he tells me very interesting historical stories,” Huyen shared.
Those simple conversations gradually became catalysts, urging me to learn more. From then on, history to me was not simply a subject in books, but also the source of my deep patriotism.
It was this pride and desire to spread the love of history that motivated Huyen to choose to study history education at Hanoi National University of Education. She dreams of becoming a history teacher to inspire the next generation.
“I want students to see the glorious history of the nation, to understand how our ancestors sacrificed their blood and bones to achieve the peace we have today. From there, they will have more motivation to strive to build a developed country, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers,” Huyen confided.
In that history lesson, the female student also wanted to convey a message about constant effort and hard work. “I want you to understand that nothing comes easy - sweet fruit always comes after difficulties and challenges,” the girl from Lang Son shared.

As a boarding student, Huyen spent almost all three years with her classmates. They were not only classmates but also valuable spiritual support (Photo: NVCC).
The achievements that Khanh Huyen has achieved not only come from personal efforts but also the result of the learning environment and the support of teachers and friends.
For her, Tuyen Quang Province Ethnic Boarding High School is an ideal learning environment. “During the “final stretch”, the teachers also created conditions for us to study at night, but never past the time limit,” Huyen said.
Not only that, right from the beginning of the school year, teachers also proactively organize online lessons or tutoring classes to support students in reviewing for the competency assessment test or HSA. In class, teachers teach carefully and test regularly so that students have a firm grasp of the knowledge.
In particular, Ms. Lam - Huyen's homeroom teacher - is the one who has trained her to be disciplined in studying. The female student shared: "She is a meticulous person and always requires us to be serious in studying to achieve high efficiency. It is her discipline that has positively impacted our personality and lifestyle."
"Whenever I'm sad because my scores aren't as expected, my friends are always there to encourage me and give me the strength to keep trying," Huyen said.
The three years of boarding school were full of memories, but the most memorable for Huyen was the Typhoon Yagi that caused the entire dormitory to lose electricity and water. The boys in the class carried water for the girls, and when they couldn’t study at night, the whole class would walk around the schoolyard, chatting and studying together in the rare dim light.
Notably, in Huyen's class 12C, there was not only one but four other students who achieved perfect scores of 10 in history and geography. Perhaps, it was the connection between the members that created that miracle.
