Promote OCOP products through display points

In addition to enhancing trade promotion activities, the city has established a system of booths and display points to introduce and sell OCOP products; thereby helping to promote and connect the consumption of local agricultural products to a large number of consumers.

Expanding consumption channels

Opened in April 2023, the Vietnamese product showroom and sales point at Han Market is located in the food court area near the Bach Dang Gate, covering an area of over 14 square meters. This location sells more than 100 items including OCOP products, specialty products, souvenirs, typical industrial and agricultural products , and traditional craft products from Da Nang and several other provinces and cities nationwide.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (from Ho Chi Minh City) shared: “I have visited Da Nang many times, and this time I was able to easily choose and buy OCOP products to bring back as gifts for family and friends. The stalls have a wide variety of products, designs, and beautiful packaging. I feel confident buying products here because they have clear origins, quality, and prices.”

Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, Head of the Han Market Management Board, said that during peak tourist season, the market welcomes nearly 10,000 visitors for sightseeing and shopping. The stall has helped promote the image of Da Nang's OCOP products and build a brand among foreign tourists. Furthermore, the stall has created opportunities for businesses in the market to connect with OCOP enterprises to sell their products more effectively.

Recently, Vinseed Biotechnology Co., Ltd. inaugurated the Hoa Xuan OCOP Center on Le Quang Chi Street, Hoa Xuan Ward. The center, built on an area of over 100 square meters, features a scientifically designed and modern space, including areas for displaying OCOP products and local specialties, a product testing and experience zone, and a digitally integrated sales management system. Currently, it showcases products from 20 brands with 50 product codes.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Khiem, co-founder and Deputy Director of Vinseed Biotechnology Co., Ltd., said: “We aim to become a stopover point in domestic and international tours, and we expect to welcome the first groups of tourists in August. At the same time, we will organize business networking activities, seminars, product introductions, and share experiences in producing and consuming OCOP products.”

Operating for over two years, the OCOP product display and introduction point at Hoa Quy 1 Agricultural Production Service Cooperative (Ngu Hanh Son ward) has become a popular shopping destination for local residents. This location offers a wide variety of OCOP products, especially many local agricultural products such as Hoa Tien organic rice, reishi mushrooms, and Nam O fish sauce.

Mr. Mai Sieng, Director of Hoa Quy 1 Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative, said that the OCOP product display and promotion point not only contributes to widely introducing clean, high-quality, and safe products to the people but also enhances the cooperative's operational efficiency. Currently, products at the display point are being actively sold online through e-commerce platforms.

Maximizing potential

Following the merger, Da Nang city now has over 450 OCOP products, many of which are high-quality products with distinctive cultural, culinary, and traditional craft values. This is an important resource that needs to be effectively exploited to serve tourism development, domestic consumption, and promote the local image.

However, to operate and maximize the advantages of OCOP product display and sales points, store owners and businesses must be proactive and flexible in applying digital technology in promotion, marketing, and boosting product consumption. At the same time, they must closely link with producers along the value chain to reduce distribution costs and increase profits in their business operations.

According to Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hau, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the city has 26 OCOP (One Commune One Product) sales points, distributed in many central areas, traditional craft villages, tourist destinations, and residential areas. These sales points have initially proven effective as a channel connecting producers and consumers, contributing to the promotion and consumption of local specialty products and building confidence in Vietnamese goods.

However, the OCOP retail outlet system still has some limitations, such as uneven distribution across regions, inconsistent design and branding; and trade promotion and value chain connectivity at these outlets have not yet met practical requirements.

To enhance the program's effectiveness, the city's agriculture and environment sector is reviewing and developing an OCOP (One Commune One Product) plan for the 2026-2030 period. The central focus is on supporting trade promotion and product consumption. The city is prioritizing the design and standardization of a common brand identity for OCOP sales points, implementing it uniformly at existing locations and expanding it to potential locations with high customer traffic.

"The development of sales points linked to community cultural spaces and tourism will be prioritized, such as Hoi An pedestrian street, the Han River bank, night markets, key tourist centers, and major festivals. The city will promote the application of digital technology in management, connection, and product promotion, aiming to build a modern, professional, and efficient OCOP sales point system," Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hau informed.
