Ninh Van is known for the story of the Ho Chi Minh Trail on the sea and the unmarked ship C235. But that's not all; nature has blessed this place with a pristine, white sandy beach and a diverse marine ecosystem, making it an ideal location for tourism development.

Awakening the "fairy" Ninh Vân
Ninh Van is an island commune belonging to Ninh Hoa town ( Khanh Hoa province ), with an area of over 4,520 hectares, surrounded by the sea on three sides. With its harmonious natural scenery of mountains, forests and sea, Ninh Van stands out like a hidden gem in the ocean.
Ninh Van not only offers a rich and diverse natural landscape, but it is also an ideal destination for those who love the pristine, peaceful beauty of the sea and enjoy exploring the tranquil life of the people in coastal areas.
Ninh Van has a population of over 530, with more than 2,000 residents. The main source of income for the people is fishing and the traditional cultivation of garlic and peanuts. However, in recent years, the people have begun to shift towards tourism, with a series of homestays, guesthouses, and restaurants opening up, alongside services such as coral viewing, night squid fishing, and mountain climbing to admire the bay.
Mr. Pham Ba Duy, residing in Nha Trang City, shared his experience of spending a night in Ninh Van. He said his family traveled nearly two hours by car, covering a distance of 75 km, to reach Ninh Van. The first impressive sight was the road leading into Ninh Van commune, lined with shady green trees on both sides, making anyone feel as if they were traveling through majestic mountains and forests. After another 5 km, a long stretch of white sand beach appeared before their eyes, with gentle waves, lush green mountains, and a stunning picture of the Ninh Van countryside.

Unlike other popular tourist destinations, Ninh Van is gentler, more peaceful, and more unspoiled. It's a suitable place for those seeking tranquility, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and wanting to enjoy pure natural beauty largely untouched by human intervention. This is why tourists want to explore more about the land, people, and scenery here.
According to Ms. Phan Hai Thoai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ninh Hoa Town, Ninh Van commune has undergone a transformation, proactively catching up, keeping pace, and achieving the new rural standard ahead of many other localities. However, what is particularly valuable is that the traditional culture, natural landscape, and character of the land and people of Ninh Van have been preserved almost intact, and in some aspects have even flourished and been clearly promoted. This is an invaluable resource for the formation and development of community tourism, thereby creating more jobs and increasing income, contributing to poverty reduction and socio-economic development of the locality.

Experience community tourism with the people of the coastal village.
In Ninh Van, most homestay, guesthouse, and restaurant owners are locals, so their approach to tourism differs from other tourist destinations. Visitors here can not only swim, snorkel, enjoy seafood, and visit the historical site of the C235 "No Number" ship, but also directly participate in harvesting garlic and peanuts (if it's the right season), go night fishing at sea, experience mountain climbing, or cycle around Dong and Tay villages on coastal roads connecting to lush green rice paddies on the hillsides to feel the energy of nature…
In particular, visitors cannot miss the most vibrant moment of the island commune every early morning when fishing boats dock at the harbor. A variety of fresh fish, squid, and shellfish, from small to large, are wriggling on the boats, making visitors from afar eager to buy some to take home as gifts for relatives or for their families to enjoy.

At the ceremony announcing Ninh Van as a potential community tourism destination on July 19, 2024, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, Dinh Van Thieu, affirmed: "Ninh Van has many products very suitable for the community tourism model, such as seafood fishing, garlic cultivation, and the cultivation of Xao Tam Phan (a type of medicinal plant). In particular, it preserves the cultural characteristics of the people in the coastal region. These are extremely valuable resources for us to develop community tourism. Furthermore, Ninh Van also has the very famous Six Senses Ninh Van Bay resort, so both sides can support each other's development. While there may be many high-end tourists, they still want to experience the local culture."
With its beauty and tourism potential, Ninh Van is increasingly asserting its position as an attractive and sustainable community tourism destination. Efforts to protect and promote the local cultural and natural values are contributing to a bright image for the development of community tourism in Ninh Van.

Ninh Van garlic is a popular souvenir choice for many tourists visiting the area.
