Doctors at the Provincial General Hospital perform transcranial doppler ultrasound to diagnose dangerous diseases for patients.

To build a team of doctors and nurses with solid expertise, the hospital focuses on investing in long-term training. Accordingly, many staff are sent to study for specialist level I, II, and master's degrees at medical training institutions and central hospitals. Experts are regularly invited from hospitals to directly "hold hands and guide" and transfer techniques such as Viet Duc, Bach Mai, E, Nhi Trung Nguyen, K... Up to now, the hospital has 56 doctors with postgraduate degrees (accounting for 49% of the total number of treating doctors). It is expected that by 2026 and 2027, this number will increase to 85 doctors with specialist level I, II, and master's degrees, reaching 75 - 80% of the total number of treating doctors. In addition, there are 24 nursing staff studying for master's and specialist level I degrees.
Along with training, the hospital actively develops specialized specialties and deploys advanced techniques, especially in the fields of oncology, cardiology, rehabilitation, etc. Many cutting-edge techniques have been successfully performed such as: endoscopic digestive surgery, brain surgery, spinal fixation with screws, continuous blood filtration, resuscitation of premature newborns, advanced mechanical ventilation, etc. In particular, from February 2024, the transcranial Doppler ultrasound technique will be deployed, helping to detect early dangerous cerebrovascular diseases that previously required patients to be transferred to a higher level.
BSCKI Quang Thi Thanh (in charge of the Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound Department) said: After being sent for training at Bach Mai Hospital, my colleagues and I applied the transcranial Doppler ultrasound technique to the unit. This is a modern, non-invasive method with no side effects, allowing examination of cerebral circulation through 3 windows: suboccipital, temporal and orbital. This technique is especially useful for high-risk people such as: patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, dyslipidemia, or previous traumatic brain injury.
To date, the Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound Department has received about 1,100 patients, many of whom were detected early and treated promptly. A typical example is patient Kha Thi Cai (Co Do village, Nam Ma commune) who was hospitalized with a headache and weakness on the left side of her body. Through imaging diagnosis and transcranial Doppler ultrasound, the doctor discovered that she had a cerebral infarction in the right pontine nucleus, accompanied by increased resistance of the basilar artery and the left vertebral artery - a high risk factor for stroke. Thanks to early detection, she was treated promptly and her health is now stable.
According to Dr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of the Provincial General Hospital, the team of well-trained doctors is capable of making accurate diagnoses, applying modern treatment regimens, handling complex cases well, and ensuring patient safety. In addition to professional duties, this force also plays the role of "passing on the torch", training the next generation and implementing new techniques.
In addition to training, according to the resolution of the Provincial People's Council, doctors participating in specialized training I, II are supported with funding from 80 - 100 million VND after completing the course. In addition, cadres in the development planning are given favorable financial conditions and working environment. This is very favorable for the hospital in improving the quality of human resources. In the process of developing specialized expertise, the hospital also maintains close cooperation with upper-level hospitals through: Project 1816, satellite hospitals, Telemedicine.
In the coming time, the Provincial General Hospital will continue to invest in developing key specialties such as oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, rehabilitation, etc. to meet the increasingly diverse and specialized treatment needs of the people. At the same time, it hopes to continue to receive support from the Ministry of Health and local authorities in financial mechanisms, training, and investment in modern equipment, in order to build a highly qualified and professional medical team.
Specialized human resources are not only the foundation for improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, but also the key to helping the hospital gradually affirm its role as the final line in the local health system. With a clear orientation and a methodical roadmap, the Provincial General Hospital has been building a modern, specialized medical examination and treatment model for the health of the community, contributing to promoting the sustainable development of the provincial health sector.
