During the working trip to visit Truong Sa archipelago and DK1 platform, the provincial delegation led by comrade Vu Viet Van, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, had many meaningful activities on Truong Sa island.
Truong Sa Island is known as the “Capital of Truong Sa Island District” like a towering fortress in the East Sea, located in the South and is the largest island of Truong Sa archipelago, about 254 nautical miles from Cam Ranh. Because it is located on a submerged coral reef, the island has brackish water at a depth of about 2m, convenient for bathing, washing, and watering plants, this is a gift of nature to the people here.
Not only possessing rich marine resources, Truong Sa Island has also become an address providing fishing services, seaports, and a solid support for fishermen. Over the years, officers, soldiers and people on the island have constantly strived to overcome the difficulties and challenges of nature, successfully completing the task of socio -economic development and ensuring national defense and security.
Visiting the island, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu Viet Van acknowledged and highly appreciated the performance of combat readiness tasks and the protection of the sea and island sovereignty of officers and soldiers on Truong Sa island. He hoped that the army and people on the island would continue to improve their political will, determination, and efforts to overcome difficulties, develop the economy, and contribute to firmly protecting the country's sea and island sovereignty.
On this occasion, many meaningful gifts were presented to the soldiers and people on Truong Sa island by the Party Committee, government and people of Vinh Phuc province, the Navy and localities in the working delegation.
The delegation offered incense and flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House; the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Truong Sa Island; burned incense at Truong Sa Pagoda; presented many gifts to households living on the island; participated in the cultural exchange program between the delegation members and officers, soldiers and people of Truong Sa Island.
