Since then, the People's Procuracy has continuously grown, accompanying the cause of protecting the law, human rights and building the socialist rule-of-law state of Vietnam.
In the Southwest region, after the country's reunification, on April 23, 1976, the People's Procuracy of Kien Giang province and the People's Procuracy of An Giang province were established under Decree No. 09-BTP/ND of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam.
Over 50 years of formation and development, from a difficult beginning with a small number of staff and inadequate facilities, the procuracy of the two provinces has overcome difficulties, continuously grown, and become an important force in practicing the right to prosecute, supervise judicial activities, maintain legal discipline and effectively serve the political tasks of the locality.

Marks on the half-century journey
After nearly half a century of formation and development (1976-2025), the Procuracy of Kien Giang and An Giang has gone through many memorable milestones. In the early years of establishment, cadres were mainly mobilized from the police force, the army, or reinforced from the North, working and studying at the same time, overcoming countless difficulties.
During the period 1976-2000, the two provinces focused on perfecting the organizational apparatus and strengthening the function of law enforcement in all fields, contributing to tightening legal discipline in the context of many fluctuations in the country.
In the period 2002-2015, implementing the judicial reform policy, the procuracy of the two provinces ceased its administrative prosecution function, focusing on exercising the right to prosecute, supervising judicial activities, improving the quality of investigation, prosecution, and trial, ensuring that no wrongful convictions or criminals are left unpunished. This was also the period of promoting training and fostering of cadres with strong political will and professional skills, meeting the requirements of judicial reform.
From 2015 to present, the Kien Giang and An Giang procuracies have entered a new development stage with the motto "Solidarity, responsibility - discipline, integrity - courage, efficiency", pioneering the application of information technology, digital transformation, building a clean and strong industry, contributing to the effective implementation of judicial reform tasks.
For many consecutive years, the People's Procuracy of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces has achieved and exceeded the work targets assigned by the National Assembly's resolutions, leading the emulation movement, contributing to the successful implementation of the annual socio-economic development tasks and the province's 5-year plan.

In the period of 2020-2025, in response to the increasing demands of judicial reform and the complicated developments of crime, the procuracy of the two provinces has proactively innovated comprehensively, implementing many synchronous solutions suitable to local realities. The Procuracy at two levels has performed well the function of exercising the right to prosecute and supervise judicial activities; coordinated with the prosecution agencies to thoroughly resolve many important and complicated cases that have received public attention, contributing to maintaining political security, social order and safety and stabilizing the local situation.
Every year, the People's Procuracy of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces has supervised the prosecution of thousands of new criminal cases, with an average rate of timely prosecution and correct conviction of over 98%, with no wrongful convictions; at the same time, it has supervised the resolution of thousands of civil disputes, administrative complaints, criminal and civil judgment enforcement, and the settlement of complaints and denunciations in judicial activities.
The inspection work was carried out seriously and in accordance with legal regulations, thereby issuing hundreds of recommendations and protests requesting the correction of legal violations, contributing to ensuring that the law is strictly and uniformly enforced, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the State, agencies, organizations and individuals, effectively serving the socio-economic development tasks of the locality.
Not only is the locality with a vibrant emulation movement, the People's Procuracy of the two provinces is also a pioneer in applying information technology and digital transformation, with many initiatives, solutions, and projects on information technology recognized by the Supreme People's Procuracy as industry-level initiatives, effectively applied to management, direction, operation, and improving the quality and effectiveness of prosecution work.
The sector pays special attention to building a modern, professional working environment, discovering and nurturing young cadres and cadres with innovative and creative thinking to meet the increasing demands of judicial reform and serve well the political tasks of the locality in the new situation.
In the 2020-2025 period, the entire industry has had more than 150 initiatives effectively applied in work, with over 90% of the approved initiatives successfully implemented, of which nearly 12% are initiatives at the people's procuracy level. The People's Procuracy of Kien Giang province was honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal; the People's Procuracy of An Giang province was awarded the title of Labor Hero.
Many collectives and individuals at the district and department levels have been awarded emulation titles and other noble forms of commendation. This is a source of pride and a symbol of the spirit of dedication, overcoming difficulties and continuous dedication of the civil servants and prosecutors. The image of the prosecutor is increasingly trusted by the people, and the role and position of the People's Procuracy are increasingly affirmed and enhanced.

The courage of Kien Giang - An Giang Procuracy is steady in the merger process
In the journey of innovation, from July 1, 2025, the People's Procuracy of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces have officially merged according to Resolution No. 84/2025/UBTVQH15, dated June 27, 2025 of the National Assembly Standing Committee into the People's Procuracy of An Giang province. This is not only the result of the process of streamlining the organization, effectiveness and efficiency, but also a historical milestone, opening a new development path for the Procuracy in general and the An Giang Procuracy in particular in the new period.
With high political determination and the motto "One province - One vision - One action - One belief", the An Giang procuracy focuses on implementing conditions to ensure smooth and effective operation. The leadership of the Provincial People's Procuracy is the center, with the Chief Prosecutor as the nucleus of solidarity, exemplary, responsible, dynamic, creative, together with the whole industry to build the An Giang Provincial People's Procuracy into a collective that is strong in politics, good at professional skills, proficient in law, modern in technology, impartial, courageous, disciplined, responsible and rich in humanity to enforce justice and serve the people.
Entering the digital age, the An Giang Procuracy has identified the construction of a digital Procuracy as a key task, a key to comprehensive development, improving management and operation capacity, ensuring transparency, efficiency and quality of prosecution work. The An Giang Digital Procuracy aims to synchronously apply information technology and digital transformation in all areas of work, from management, direction and operation to consulting, synthesizing and implementing professional Procuracy activities, in order to well implement the industry's orientation of "building an increasingly professional and modern People's Procuracy, contributing to promoting national development, serving the People, for the People".
Looking back on the journey of nearly 50 years of formation and development, the Procuracy of Kien Giang and An Giang respectfully expresses its gratitude for the leadership, direction, care and support of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of the two provinces; the close coordination of agencies, departments, organizations, and the trust of the people, and especially the close leadership and direction of the Supreme People's Procuracy - which is a great source of motivation for the sector to constantly grow.
