Located in the South Central Coast region, Khanh Hoa is a land with a system of Cham temples and towers built thousands of years ago that still remain relatively intact today.
This place is not only an important destination for the Cham people to practice their faith and spirituality, but it also attracts a large number of tourists from all over to explore and enjoy.
Located on Trau Hill in Do Vinh Ward, Po Klong Garai Tower is a complex of three towers: the Main Tower, the Fire Tower, and the Gate Tower, built around the late 13th and early 14th centuries to worship King Po Klong Garai (1151-1205), a king who made significant contributions to the construction of the local irrigation system.
Over time, the Po Klong Garai Tower has retained its delicate and refined features, with its dark red fired bricks bonded together by a special construction technique that remains unexplained to this day.
At the Po Klong Garai tower, many important cultural, religious, and spiritual activities of the Cham people who follow Brahmanism take place, especially the Ka Te festival which is held at the end of September and beginning of October every year.
With its unique historical and architectural values, the Po Klong Garai Tower was recognized as a Special National Architectural and Artistic Monument in 2016, and the statue of King Po Klong Garai was recognized as a National Treasure in 2024.
According to scientists , this is a relatively well-preserved complex of towers and is considered the most beautiful among the Cham temples and towers in Vietnam today.
Located on a hill overlooking the tranquil Cai River, the Po Nagar Cham Towers, a special national architectural and artistic monument, is also a must-see highlight when visiting Nha Trang.
The complex of towers was built from the 8th to the 13th centuries to worship the goddess Po Nagar - the goddess considered the Mother of the Land by the Cham people, who played a key role in reclaiming land and teaching the people how to make a living.
The Po Nagar Tower boasts a unique architectural style with three main levels, the most prominent being the temple complex on the top level with four massive brick towers. The main tower, approximately 23 meters high, stands majestically, housing a statue of the goddess Po Nagar inside.
Through the process of cultural exchange and adaptation, the Po Nagar Tower embodies the typical values of both the Cham and Vietnamese people through the image of the goddess Po Nagar. It has become a spiritual gathering place, where the Vietnamese and Cham communities pray for national peace and prosperity, favorable weather, and a peaceful, prosperous, and happy life.
