The above information was given at the 30th Conference of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, held on December 5.
Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, said that in 2025, although many localities have implemented the arrangement and streamlining of the administrative apparatus according to the Party and State's policies, the work of directing and mobilizing voluntary blood donation has always received attention and favorable conditions from Party committees and authorities at all levels.
The coordination, direction and supervision work between the Red Cross at all levels - the Standing Office of the Steering Committee with the health sector, local departments, branches and organizations has been strengthened, flexibly and regularly, contributing to the timely mobilization of blood donors.
Over the past year, communication activities have been widely deployed, helping to raise public awareness of the meaning and importance of blood donation to save patients. Counseling and care for blood donors, policies and honors and rewards have been implemented promptly and seriously, creating motivation to maintain and develop the voluntary blood donation force in the community.
According to reports from 34 provinces, cities and member agencies of the National Steering Committee, in 2025, the whole country mobilized and received 1,748,935 units of blood, reaching 94% of the planned target, equivalent to 1.74% of the population donating blood. 16/36 provinces, cities, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense met and exceeded the targets assigned by the National Steering Committee.
Voluntary blood donation activities are concentrated in major campaigns and events of the year, namely: Voluntary blood donation campaign on Tet holiday and Spring Festival; Responding to "National Voluntary Blood Donation Day" - April 7; Red Blood Drops - Summer Campaign and "Red Journey" program.
At the Conference, delegates from ministries, branches and units participated in the discussion session, in which they basically agreed with the draft contents prepared by the Standing Office of the Steering Committee; along with some related contents on difficulties in launching the movement from the grassroots, emulation and reward work, information security of voluntary blood donation work.../.
