Honoring and encouraging groups and teams of population propagandists

From December 4-5, the Ministry of Health organized the contest "I am a good population propagandist" to recognize, honor and encourage groups, especially the population propagandist team that is directly carrying out communication work at the grassroots level.

Gathering nearly 200 propagandists from 11 provinces and cities representing regions across the country, the Contest is an opportunity to exchange experiences and introduce effective communication models and initiatives.

11 teams representing 11 provinces/cities, including: Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Hanoi , Hai Phong, Dong Nai, Lam Dong, Da Nang, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City and Son La. Each team has from 8-20 members, all of whom are typical population officers and population collaborators.

Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen emphasized that in recent years, with the close leadership of the Party and State, the coordination of departments, ministries, branches, localities and the consensus of the whole society, population work has achieved many important achievements. The population size has been reasonably controlled, the population quality has been gradually improved, the average life expectancy has increased, reproductive health and maternal and child health care have made much progress.

However, according to the Deputy Minister of Health, besides the achieved results, there are still many challenges in population work such as: the birth rate is different between regions, the gender imbalance at birth has been initially controlled but is still at a high level, the population aging rate is increasing rapidly, health problems of the elderly and population quality still have many limitations...

Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen emphasized that in order to effectively implement important and strategic solutions in population work, it is necessary to build a team of truly dedicated and creative propagandists who have a firm grasp of the Party and State's policies and guidelines, and are capable of conveying and spreading population messages to each residential area, each family and each person.

Mr. Le Thanh Dung - Director of the Department of Population, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Contest affirmed that the population propagandists at the grassroots level are the ones who directly bring population policies to each village, each family, each community and are an important force contributing to the implementation of population and development goals in the past time and the next stages.

The teams have overcome geographical distances, even overcoming severe difficulties caused by natural disasters and floods to come to Hanoi to participate in the competition with the highest sense of responsibility. The timely coordination between the provinces/cities with the Central Government and the Organizing Committee, together with the elaborate and methodical content that the teams have prepared, shows the serious investment in training and a high sense of responsibility for the population and development of the country.

After 2 days, the Organizing Committee awarded the collective prizes: First prize went to the team from Phu Tho province, 2 Second prizes went to the teams from Da Nang city and Thai Nguyen province. 3 Third prizes were awarded to the teams from Lam Dong province, Ho Chi Minh city, Dong Nai province. There were 5 Encouragement prizes awarded to the remaining provinces.

In the individual award category: First prize was awarded to Ms. Hoang Thi Phuong from Phu Tho province, 02 Second prizes were awarded to: Ms. Le Minh Hien (Da Nang City) and Ms. Nguyen Hoang Mai Trinh (Dong Nai Province) and there were 3 Third prizes, 3 Encouragement prizes.

The contest is an opportunity to recognize, honor and encourage groups, especially the population propaganda team that is directly carrying out communication work at the grassroots level./.
