Based on that orientation, the department has gradually played a good role in advising and organizing the production of in-depth propaganda programs on military and national defense tasks; protecting national sovereignty over the sea, islands, and borders; and combating "peaceful evolution" and protecting the Party's ideological foundation. In particular, recent years have marked a significant development of the Television Special Programs Department in both production scale and content depth. The department has produced over 200 30-minute special programs on borders, seas, and islands; over 400 15-minute programs with diverse themes such as "Local Defense," "Supporting Soldiers," "Female Soldiers," and "Classroom for Stars"; nearly 20 "Identifying the Truth" programs on combating "peaceful evolution" and protecting the Party's ideological foundation, along with dozens of in-depth documentaries and reports, and many large-scale live television programs.

In response to the demands of modern journalism, the Television Special Programs Department has identified innovation as the core driving force for improving the effectiveness of its programs. Alongside maintaining traditional programs, the department boldly innovates program formats to align with modern television trends, increasing the experiential element for participants, incorporating talk shows and reality television, and broadening perspectives on the lives of military personnel.

According to Colonel Nguyen Nhu Thuong, Head of the Television Special Programs Department, innovation is not only aimed at creating differences in presentation style, but more importantly, at bringing political commentary closer to the public through authentic, emotionally rich stories with social impact. Therefore, special programs on protecting maritime sovereignty and islands; border security; supporting fishermen to stay at sea; combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing; building a national defense posture; and developing Vietnam's national defense potential are presented vividly and relatable, making political , military, and defense information more accessible and impactful.

The spirit of dedication and creativity has helped the Television Special Programs Department successfully organize many large-scale programs such as the art exchange: "The Strength of Logistics in the Dien Bien Phu Victory"; "Everlasting Faith" commemorating the 80th anniversary of the General Political Department's traditional day; and "Resources for Victory" commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. In particular, the department is currently leading the production of the game show "Square Star Colors" - a television program specifically for militia and self-defense forces nationwide.

Through synchronized efforts to innovate in content and presentation methods, the works of the Television Special Programs Department have been recognized at many prestigious journalism awards: the C Prize at the National Journalism Awards on the National Assembly and People's Councils (Dien Hong Award) in 2024; the Silver Prize at the 41st and 42nd National Television Festivals, along with numerous commendations from the Ministry of National Defense, the General Political Department, and agencies and units throughout the army.

These results not only affirm the comprehensive maturity of the Television Special Programs Department but also demonstrate the image of the Army's television journalists as always steadfast in their political stance, sensitive to the pulse of life, and ready to dedicate themselves to propaganda tasks in the new era.
