The final match between Pijus Labutis and Moritz Neuhausen (Germany) was full of drama.

Following the success of the previous two seasons, Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2025 continues to affirm its position as one of the most prestigious 9-ball billiards tournaments in Asia and the most prestigious international sporting event held in Vietnam.

This year, the tournament brings together 256 of the world's top players, including many prestigious champions, with a total prize value of up to 200,000 USD, of which the champion receives 40,000 USD.

Despite the postponement of the first day of competition due to the weather, the tournament still took place in a vibrant atmosphere, attracting thousands of Vietnamese spectators. In particular, young player Dinh Chan Kiet became a highlight when he was among the top 16 best players - a memorable milestone for Vietnamese billiards in the international arena.

Labutis won convincingly.

The final match between Pijus Labutis and Moritz Neuhausen (Germany) took place on the evening of October 12 in front of nearly 2,000 fans at My Dinh. After the first minutes of the match, Labutis gradually took the lead and ended the match with a 13-7 victory, officially erasing the "semi-final curse" after 4 times missing the round of 4 of the strongest players in Major tournaments.

“I don’t know how I won. Thank you to the Vietnamese audience for the crazy atmosphere and my girlfriend who has always been by my side,” Labutis emotionally shared.

Meanwhile, in the Hanoi junior open, Jack Beggs (New Zealand) defeated Nguyen Tien Trung – a 16-year-old talent from Vietnam – with a score of 9-7. Although he did not win, Tien Trung made history by becoming the first Vietnamese player to reach the final after two seasons.

The Hanoi Open Pool Championship, organized by Matchroom Multi Sport (UK) in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Culture & Sports and Vietcontent, has become a tournament demonstrating Vietnam's international sports integration.

The previous two seasons were marked by the presence of superstars such as Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Albin Ouschan, Jayson Shaw, Joshua Filler, Johann Chua. The success of the 2025 season continues to affirm Hanoi as an attractive destination for world sports, contributing to promoting the image of the dynamic, hospitable and culturally rich capital to international friends.
