Many schools have received significant investment.

Starting in early June, construction on school buildings across the city is being accelerated to ensure they are ready for use in the 2026-2027 school year.

In Thanh Khe ward, the project for the classroom block and multi-purpose building of Nguyen Chon Secondary School has a total investment of over 36 billion VND and is expected to be completed on July 27, 2026.

Mr. Phan Van Thiep, Director of Betaco Consulting and Construction Joint Stock Company, the project's contractor, said that despite the hot weather, the company is making efforts to maintain overtime shifts to accelerate the progress of the items committed to the investor, striving to complete the project and put it into use for the new school year.

Similarly, Hoa Thuan Dong Primary and Secondary School (Hoa Cuong ward) will be rebuilt into a 4-story building, comprising 4 U-shaped blocks, 35 classrooms, 7 subject rooms, a multi-purpose room, and a swimming pool. The project costs over 130 billion VND and is expected to be completed in June 2026.

According to Truong Thanh Dung, Chairman of the Hoa Cuong Ward People's Committee, the ward leadership has established a working group to inspect the construction progress. They have also requested the project management department and construction units to strengthen coordination, regularly inspect and monitor the quality of the work, and proactively resolve any arising difficulties to ensure the project progresses according to plan. The contractors have committed to completing the rough construction before June 30, 2026, and simultaneously developing the technical infrastructure. Equipment installation will be completed and handed over before August 15, 2026.

According to the Department of Construction, there are 80 education projects managed by the city's Project Management Boards. Of these, 5 projects have been completed, 20 projects are under construction, and 55 projects are in the process of obtaining permits.

Notable among the 20 ongoing projects are: Phan Thanh Tai High School (Hoa Xuan Ward) with over 110 billion VND; Phu Dong Primary School - Campus 1 (Hai Chau Ward) with over 108 billion VND; Hoa Thuan Dong Primary and Secondary School and expansion of K149 Le Dinh Ly (Hoa Cuong Ward) with over 130 billion VND; Nui Thanh High School (Nui Thanh Commune) with 60 billion VND; and Vo Chi Cong High School (Hung Son Commune) with nearly 60 billion VND. Synchronizing the school network

Mr. Phan Tran Duy Lam, Principal of Nguyen Chon Secondary School (Thanh Khe Ward), shared that the school's classroom block and multi-purpose building project, invested in and put into use from the 2026-2027 school year, includes 9 classrooms, subject rooms, and a modern multi-purpose building, contributing to increasing the school's scale to 29 classes with over 1,300 students. The modern facilities will also help the school achieve national standard school status in the near future.

According to teacher Phan Tran Duy Lam, the positive transformation of the education sector in recent times is clearly reflected in the city's policies and guidelines regarding investment in school infrastructure throughout the city. In particular, the draft plan for investment in the construction, upgrading, and expansion of schools and teaching equipment for public preschool and primary/secondary schools in the period 2026-2030, currently being circulated for feedback, has received positive responses from educators and the public. "This provides a basis for the city to expand schools, invest in modern equipment, and improve the quality of education according to the 2018 General Education Program, meeting the learning needs of students," Mr. Lam shared.

Regarding the draft resolution of the City People's Council on the Project for Investment in Construction, Upgrading, and Expanding School Buildings and Teaching Equipment for Public Preschools and Primary and Secondary Schools in the period 2026-2030, which is currently undergoing widespread consultation, the Department of Education and Training stated that the total estimated cost for the project in the period 2026-2030 is over 20,500 billion VND, including approximately 19,246 billion VND for new construction and upgrading of school buildings; and nearly 1,489 billion VND for equipment investment. The goal is to have at least 80% of primary and secondary schools meet national standards by 2030, comply with the 2018 General Education Program, operate two sessions per day, and eliminate dilapidated classrooms.

Ms. Le Qui Ha, Vice Chairman of the Hai Chau Ward People's Committee, also stated that most primary and secondary schools in the ward have small areas, making it difficult to meet the criteria for national standard schools. The Ward People's Committee is currently reviewing the facilities and area of the schools to find appropriate solutions to ensure enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year, as well as proposing inclusion in the medium-term investment plan according to the Project on Investment in Construction, Upgrading, and Expansion of Schools and Teaching Equipment for Public Preschools and Primary and Secondary Schools in the period 2026-2030.
