This year, typical agricultural products and specialties of the Central Highlands are popular in the Dak Lak market thanks to their nutritional value and ability to spread local culture.
Choose Central Highlands agricultural products and specialties as Lunar New Year gifts instead of imported goods
Imported gift baskets have always been a popular choice during the Lunar New Year. But in recent years, the gift-giving trend has gradually shifted to local agricultural products – both practical and imbued with the identity of the homeland.
Many customers love OCOP products, Central Highlands specialties, and choose them as Lunar New Year gifts for friends and relatives.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Mai chose local agricultural products as gifts for Lunar New Year.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Mai, Director of a joint stock company in Buon Ma Thuot, often hesitates when choosing gifts to thank partners. This year, thanks to the diversity of local agricultural products, this has become simpler.
"If I used to choose beautiful imported gift baskets, this year I switched to local agricultural products such as cashews, macadamia nuts, and sachi nuts. These gifts are both nutritious and have local characteristics," Ms. Mai shared.

Not only businesses, many families in Dak Lak also choose local agricultural products as gifts for the Lunar New Year. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ngoc, in Tan Lap ward, Buon Ma Thuot city, said that fresh vegetables and dried fruits from local cooperatives have become an indispensable choice for her family every Lunar New Year.
"Clean, high-quality agricultural products are always my top priority, especially during the Lunar New Year. These products are not only good for health but also meet export standards, demonstrating the sustainable development of local agriculture ," Ngoc shared.
According to Ms. Tran Ngoc Dan Thuy, Director of BMT Green Foods Company Limited in Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province, the Tet goods market, especially the province's typical agricultural products, is very rich and diverse in types and reasonable prices.
A foreign visitor was very excited when choosing agricultural products and specialties of the Central Highlands.
"The current situation is out of stock. During the Lunar New Year, demand increases, sometimes you have to order a few days in advance to get the goods, they are not available immediately. Using local specialties is very safe because the goods are newly produced, processed, roasted and packaged, ensuring both deliciousness and quality," said Ms. Thuy.
In addition to traditional products, many consumers also look for unique gifts such as the specialty of Krong Pa ( Gia Lai ) sun-dried beef. This is the Lunar New Year gift that Mr. Lac Van Thu, in Hoa Lu ward, Pleiku city, chose to give to his family and friends.
"Previously, I often chose foreign wine or imported candies as Tet gifts. But since I learned about sun-dried beef, I prioritize this product because of its rich, unforgettable flavor. This dish also reminds me of the taste of my homeland, making it very suitable for giving as a gift," Mr. Thu proudly said.

Anh Thu also shared that local products are not only unique and new to friends, but also carry the strong flavor of the homeland, creating a special meaning.
Mr. Vo Ngoc Chau - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Krong Pa district, Gia Lai province shared: "From a rustic dish of the Jarai people, Krong Pa sun-dried beef has become a popular specialty, especially during the Lunar New Year, contributing to creating a unique culinary culture of the Central Highlands."
According to Mr. Chau, the district currently has about 30 establishments producing sun-dried beef. Notably, out of the total 29 OCOP products of the district, up to 20 products are processed from beef, which shows the prominence of beef products in the local processing industry.
Local agricultural products, meaningful and traditional Lunar New Year gifts
Farm Eva Village in Dak Nia commune, Gia Nghia city, Dak Nong, attracts a lot of tourists who are passionate about agricultural tourism.
The agricultural tourism model is becoming an attractive trend for tourists, especially during the Lunar New Year. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, owner of Farm Eva Village in Gia Nghia, Dak Nong, shared:
"Most tourists are very interested in clean and fresh agricultural products. Especially during Tet, up to 80% of tourists choose to buy local agricultural products as gifts, from fresh fruits to unique OCOP products."
Customers choose Ocop products from Dak Nong province as Lunar New Year gifts at Eva Village.
Ms. Ha also said that the experience of picking fruit or enjoying products right on the farm not only brings a sense of closeness, but also helps visitors understand more deeply about local cultural values, creating unforgettable memories during the trip.
In addition, one of the most popular Lunar New Year gifts today is Ngoc Linh Ginseng - a rare ginseng species considered a "treasure" of the Kon Tum mountains and forests. With its outstanding nutritional value, this is an ideal gift for parents and the elderly during the Lunar New Year.
Farmers in the mountainous area of Ngoc Linh are taking care of the local "treasure". The item is a priority as a Lunar New Year gift for the elderly.
Ms. Pham Thi Bich Ngoc, a tourist to Kon Tum, shared: "I decided to buy some Ngoc Linh Ginseng to give to my parents. This is not only a gift showing filial piety but also sending wishes for good health and longevity in the new year. Although the price is high, the nutritional value and spiritual meaning it brings are truly worth it."
In the Central Highlands provinces, people are prioritizing agricultural products as Lunar New Year gifts.
Local agricultural products not only satisfy the need for enjoyment but also convey cultural messages, connecting people with their homeland. Prioritizing the selection of typical agricultural products as Lunar New Year gifts not only preserves traditional values but also contributes to promoting sustainable agricultural development.
