On the morning of December 18th, in Hanoi, the National Political Publishing House, in collaboration with the Communist Magazine, organized the national scientific conference "Science, Technology and Innovation in the Digital Age - Trends and Solutions".

The workshop was organized to further clarify the role and development trends of science, technology, and innovation as key drivers of economic growth, increased labor productivity, and ensuring rapid and sustainable national development in the digital age in Vietnam and the world.

Simultaneously, the workshop focused on summarizing and evaluating the results of one year of implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science , technology, innovation, and national digital transformation; identifying opportunities, challenges, and issues, and thereby proposing orientations and solutions to strongly promote the science, technology, and innovation ecosystem in Vietnam in the coming period.

In his opening remarks at the seminar, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House, emphasized that the development of science, technology, and innovation is an inevitable trend, consistent with the laws of human development, and an indispensable requirement to ensure the rapid and sustainable development of each nation.

With the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and high middle income by 2030, and a developed country with high income by 2045, the Party has identified science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key driving forces and vital factors to overcome the middle-income trap and the risk of falling behind, while simultaneously realizing the nation's aspiration for strength and prosperity.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, in the context of the strong digital transformation taking place globally, Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation has "marked a strong shift in the strategy for the development of science and technology, a key area to focus on removing bottlenecks from general awareness to institutions, creating momentum to promote the comprehensive development of the country."

“Through the thorough implementation of the Party's guidelines, the development of science, technology, and innovation in recent years has achieved many great accomplishments, making important contributions to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, disaster prevention, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and sustainable development of the country. Science, technology, and innovation are increasingly affirmed as one of the key drivers of economic growth, improving labor productivity, quality, efficiency, and competitiveness of the economy,” affirmed Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam.

However, in recent times, alongside the achievements, the development of science, technology, and innovation in Vietnam still faces many limitations and shortcomings, requiring continued comprehensive and synchronized reforms to create breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, and innovation. The Director and Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House suggested and outlined several topics for scientists, managers, experts, businesses, and delegates to discuss and exchange ideas in order to further promote the development of science, technology, and innovation in the coming period.

Based on that, the delegates at the Conference actively exchanged ideas, discussed, and contributed their passion and intellect to clarify the new context and trends of science, technology, and innovation in the digital age; objectively and comprehensively assess the current state of science, technology, and innovation development in our country over the past period; affirm the role of science, technology, and innovation as a key driving force for rapid and sustainable national development in the digital age; share experiences in applying science and technology in various fields; and propose comprehensive and feasible viewpoints and solutions to promote the development of science, technology, and innovation in the future.

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine, emphasized that the presentations and discussions at the conference unanimously affirmed the crucial role of national science, technology development, innovation, and digital transformation as decisive factors in ensuring the rapid and sustainable development of each nation; creating the prerequisites and best opportunities for our country to develop into a prosperous and powerful nation in the new era - the era of national progress.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha concluded that the workshop had agreed on several major directions and key solutions to implement in the coming period, such as: continuing to thoroughly understand and implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW effectively and comprehensively, which serves as a guiding principle and foundation for the development of science, technology, and innovation in the digital age; and thoroughly overcoming "bottlenecks" in institutions, human resources, infrastructure, data, and strategic technologies.

Simultaneously, we will promote the digital literacy movement, fostering digital citizens, a digital culture, and a modern digital society; ensure cybersecurity and national sovereignty on digital platforms and in cyberspace; protect the legitimate data of organizations, individuals, and businesses; strengthen cooperation with countries with advanced science and technology, promote technology transfer, and build an innovation ecosystem linked to international integration to enhance national competitiveness.
