Leveraging potential and advantages, along with proactive and creative approaches, and the synchronized involvement of localities, businesses, and stakeholders, are crucial foundations for Quang Xuong district to build and continuously develop OCOP products in a sustainable direction.

Quang Xuong: Ensuring the sustainable development of OCOP products.

A large number of local people and visitors attended the "Exhibition and Introduction of Safe Agricultural and Food Products of Thanh Hoa Province, 2024" at the OCOP product booth of Quang Xuong district.

The mud crab is a gift from nature to Quang Phuc commune. Its habitat is clean, as it lives along the riverbanks, without the use of animal feed, growth hormones, or pesticides. Furthermore, mud crabs have high nutritional value, providing a large amount of calcium, protein, lipids, and vitamins. They are believed to nourish the blood, heal tendons and bones, and improve blood circulation. Mud crab meat is considered wholesome and does not cause allergies in people sensitive to seafood. With over 15 km of the Yen River dike and 367.85 hectares of sedge-growing land, the people of Quang Phuc commune harvest over 700 tons of mud crabs annually. This readily available local resource provides a clean, fresh, and traceable source of raw materials for mud crab paste production.

Based on the above advantages, the Quang Phuc Agricultural Production, Business and Service Cooperative has developed the idea of ​​producing fermented crab paste linked to product consumption through a supply chain. With the support of machinery, tools and production lines, and improvements in product design and packaging, in 2023, the fermented crab paste product was recognized as a 3-star OCOP product according to Decision No. 2457/QD-UBND dated May 29, 2023, of the Quang Xuong District People's Committee. Currently, the product is supplied to the nationwide market, contributing to creating jobs for the local people.

In the coming time, the ground crab product from the Quang Phuc Agricultural Production, Business and Service Cooperative is expanding its production scale, improving its design, packaging specifications, and product quality to reach consumers in more provinces and cities with the criteria of quality, naturalness, safety, and convenience. This is also an important factor for Quang Phuc's ground crab to become a distinctive, key OCOP product, creating a solid foothold in the market and continuing to develop sustainably in the long term.

As of December 2024, Quang Xuong district has 27 OCOP products, including 3 products rated 4 stars and 24 products rated 3 stars from 21 businesses. 20 out of 26 communes and towns have OCOP products; 5 products have passed the preliminary judging round and are being finalized for submission to the District OCOP Council for scoring and recognition. These products are being well maintained and developed, and have been listed on e-commerce platforms, notably: Vietnamese herbal foot soak and cold steaming leaves (Quang Khe commune); sedge mats and crab paste from Quang Phuc commune; Thao Hien yellow melon (Quang Hop commune); Cu Nham fish sauce, shrimp paste, and dried anchovies (Quang Nham commune); Hoang Hau reishi mushrooms (Quang Loc commune); Dung Chau sedge mats (Quang Truong commune); Dung Thap rice vermicelli (Quang Duc commune); Lam Phuong longan cake (Quang Trach commune); Thien Bao bamboo tube stuffed snails (Tan Phong town). Mr. Tu's honey (Tien Trang commune) and some other products such as dried fish, ground crab, rice flour cakes, longan-shaped cakes, pork sausage, fermented pork rolls...

To date, the "One Commune, One Product" (OCOP) program has created a widespread impact in Quang Xuong district. This has helped to exploit and develop local potential and advantages, creating high - value products with clear origins, ensuring food safety and hygiene, using environmentally friendly raw materials, and meeting market demands. Furthermore, it has contributed to job creation, increased income, improved the material and spiritual lives of the people, and effectively implemented the "Economy and Production Organization" criteria in the construction of advanced and model new rural areas.

According to Le Dai Hiep, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Quang Xuong District: The achievements in the past period are an important foundation and also a driving force for communes, towns, businesses, and OCOP product producers to build and consolidate their position in the market. In the coming time, the district will continue to implement key solutions to develop OCOP products in a sustainable direction, focusing on planning and building safe, high-tech agricultural production areas, such as: safe vegetable production areas following VietGAP standards in greenhouses; large-scale high-quality rice production areas; safe and hygienic livestock farming areas following biosafety standards; aquaculture areas; forming key products, OCOP products, and creating brands for the district's agricultural products.

In addition, the program provides consulting and support services for products from participating units, such as: trade promotion, improving product quality and packaging design, product traceability labels, planning large-scale concentrated production areas linked along the product value chain; boosting trade promotion and advertising activities for OCOP products; applying information technology and promoting digital transformation in the management, production, introduction, promotion, and business of OCOP products... thereby enhancing the value and quality of agricultural products from OCOP.
