The 10th grade Literature exam in Hanoi was considered 'manageable'.

After 120 minutes of taking the Literature exam, many Hanoi students felt that the questions were of appropriate difficulty, closely followed the review curriculum, and did not contain any overly tricky questions.

On the morning of May 30th, over 123,000 Hanoi students completed the Literature exam, the first subject in the 2026-2027 high school entrance exam. After 120 minutes of testing, many students left the exam room in a cheerful mood, assessing the exam as being of moderate difficulty, closely following the review curriculum, and not overly challenging.

At many examination centers across the city, immediately after the exam time ended, candidates quickly discussed the exam questions and shared their feelings after the first subject. Many students said they felt relieved to have completed the Literature exam with a fairly confident mindset.

Commenting on this year's exam, Nguyen Thi Khanh Chi, a student from Phuong Canh Secondary School, said she was quite surprised and happy to find that the questions matched the content she had studied thoroughly.

“ I’m very happy that the essay question was exactly what I’d prepared for. I had also reviewed the poem in the reading comprehension section beforehand. The essay topic was something I really liked and spent a lot of time preparing for, so I felt quite confident when writing it. With my essay, I think I can get 8 points ,” Khánh Chi shared.

According to Khanh Chi, the exam was practical, not too difficult, but still showed a certain differentiation among groups of students. Although quite confident in the essay section, Khanh Chi said that in the reading comprehension section, there were a few questions that required her to think carefully before answering.

At the exam center at Xuan Phuong High School, many candidates were excited after finishing the first exam.

Meanwhile, Doan Minh Duc, a student from Phuc Dien Secondary School, assessed the exam as being of moderate difficulty, with a clear structure, and suitable for the abilities of 9th-grade students.

“ I found the exam quite easy to understand; the questions weren't tricky, and there weren't any overly difficult parts. I think if you review thoroughly according to the curriculum taught in class, you can definitely do well on the exam ,” Duc said.

Minh Duc said that before the exam, he predicted the questions might be related to technology or issues relevant to the current development context, as these are topics frequently discussed recently. Therefore, the night before the exam, he spent time thoroughly reviewing the relevant content. Even so, in the reading comprehension section, Duc said there were still some questions he wasn't entirely sure about.

According to some candidates, the reading comprehension section included a question asking them to write down "two words describing nature," which was considered a detail that could easily lead to lost points if students didn't read the instructions carefully.

One candidate violated exam regulations by bringing a mobile phone into the examination room.

According to quick information following the Literature exam, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training reported that 124,082 candidates registered to take the entrance exam for 10th grade in public high schools for the 2026-2027 school year. In the Literature exam held on the morning of May 30th, 123,692 candidates participated citywide, achieving a participation rate of 99.69%, with 390 candidates absent.

This year's exam is being held at 224 testing locations with approximately 5,300 official examination rooms and 385 reserve examination rooms, ensuring that a large number of candidates across the city can be accommodated.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced that five candidates received assistance during the exam due to health issues requiring medical support. Meanwhile, no violations of exam regulations were recorded among invigilators.

However, during the exam session on the morning of May 30th, the entire city recorded one case of a candidate violating exam regulations by bringing a mobile phone into the exam room, and this case was handled according to regulations.

According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, as of approximately 9:50 AM on May 30th, examinations across the city were proceeding normally, safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.

In the afternoon of the same day, candidates will continue with the Foreign Language exam, with a time limit of 60 minutes. On the morning of May 31st, candidates will complete the final exam, Mathematics, with a time limit of 120 minutes.

For the 2026-2027 school year, Hanoi has nearly 125,000 students registering to take the entrance exam for 10th grade in public schools. The entire city is expected to recruit approximately 82,700 students into public high schools, equivalent to an acceptance rate of about 56.3%.
