Math exam for grade 10 in Hanoi

According to Mr. Hong Tri Quang - Math teacher at HOCMAI Education System, the 10th grade Math entrance exam of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training for the 2023-2024 school year still maintains a stable structure compared to recent years.

Besides, the exam is still differentiated to ensure the requirements and nature of an entrance exam.

Regarding the scope of knowledge and difficulty, Mr. Quang said that the exam structure still includes 5 major problems, each problem consists of many small ideas arranged in order from easy to difficult with very familiar types of problems to avoid causing confusion and confusion for candidates.

On the other hand, the exam has a slight increase in difficulty compared to 2022-2023, with good differentiation.

Accordingly, exercise 1 is a familiar type of exercise and does not cause difficulty for candidates. Exercise 2 maintains stability in terms of difficulty and type of exercise.

The first idea is a problem solving problem by setting up an equation – a system of equations with real-world elements. Candidates need to be able to analyze the problem, choose keywords and key data to solve the problem. The second idea is a question related to spatial geometry, candidates only need to apply the correct formula to find the answer.

Meanwhile, part 3 is a familiar type of question with a slight increase in difficulty (item 2b). The structure of the problem is similar to recent years, including questions about solving a system of equations to the first degree and questions about the intersection between the graphs of two functions, in which item 2b requires candidates to be quick in the transformation process and flexibly apply Viet's theorem to solve it.

Lesson 4, similar to previous years' exams, is a geometry problem and the types of problems that appear in the questions are all familiar types such as proving inscribed quadrilaterals, proving equal angles, proving equality and proving parallelism. And the question c is always a difficult question, intended to classify candidates.

Lesson 5 is still about inequalities and is a classification question of the test. The problem increases in difficulty and to solve the problem, candidates need to flexibly apply the skills of transforming inequalities and apply the given data appropriately and at the right time.

“The structure of the 2023-2024 exam of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training is basically unchanged compared to previous years. This is a favorable factor for the review of candidates participating in the entrance exam. It is expected that the average score of candidates may fall between 6 and 7 points,” said Mr. Hong Tri Quang.
