As reported by Quang Nam Newspaper, local heavy rains in November 2024 caused the positive slope at km85+400 (behind the M2 pier of Dak Mi 1 bridge) on National Highway 14E, passing through Phuoc Hoa commune (Phuoc Son), to be buried by rocks and soil. A very large orphaned rock rolled down, causing the 3rd span surface of Dak Mi 1 bridge to shift by about 47cm.

On November 25, 2024, the Department of Transport must regulate traffic to ensure safety. Accordingly, passenger vans with 16 seats or less and vehicles weighing 5 tons or less, along with motorbikes, rudimentary vehicles, and pedestrians are allowed to travel through Dak Mi 1 Bridge.

The remaining vehicles follow the instructions: From Phuoc Son to National Highway 1 and vice versa, follow Ho Chi Minh Road ↔ National Highway 14B (Thanh My Town, Nam Giang) ↔ National Highway 1; from National Highway 1 to Phuoc Son and vice versa at km972+200 of National Highway 1, follow National Highway 14E to km58+530/National Highway 14E ↔ follow Truong Son Dong Road (about 48km) ↔ Ho Chi Minh Road.

On November 27, 2024, a working group from the Department of Construction Investment Management ( Ministry of Transport ) and the Vietnam Road Administration conducted a site inspection and survey. Project Management Board 4 (Vietnam Road Administration) is the unit managing the National Highway 14E Renovation and Upgrade Project and has submitted a document proposing and reporting to the Vietnam Road Administration a design solution to adjust Dak Mi 1 Bridge.

An officer of Project Management Board 4 said that the Vietnam Road Administration has submitted a report to the Ministry of Transport asking for opinions on investing in the construction of Dak Mi 1 Bridge. According to the proposal, the new bridge will be built to the side of the hydroelectric reservoir; the existing old bridge will be repaired to ensure traffic.

The cost of building the new bridge is expected to come from the reserve fund of the National Highway 14E Improvement and Upgrade Project. If the second layer of asphalt concrete is added (Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee has proposed to the Ministry of Transport for the second time), the reserve fund of the project will still be guaranteed for implementation.
