Dembele, with his two assists, played a major role in Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) crushing 5-0 victory over Inter Milan, creating the Champions League final with the biggest margin of victory in history.

This brilliant performance not only helped PSG win the most prestigious European competition for the first time, but also made Dembele a leading candidate for this year's Ballon d'Or.

In 2025, there will be no major national team tournaments (like the World Cup or the European Championship), meaning club performance will be the main factor in determining the winner of the Ballon d'Or. With PSG winning a historic treble this season, including the Champions League, Ligue 1, and the French Cup, Dembele holds a huge advantage.

According to statistics from Opta, the former Barcelona star has directly contributed to 12 goals in PSG's 2024-2025 Champions League campaign (9 goals and 3 assists). His brilliant form is reminiscent of Karim Benzema's performance when he won the Ballon d'Or in 2022.

Dembele also shone consistently in the Champions League knockout stages, scoring against Liverpool in the round of 16, netting a brace against Brest in the play-off round, contributing two assists in the quarter-final against Aston Villa, and scoring and assisting in both semi-final matches against Arsenal. The highlight was his two decisive assists in the final against Inter Milan, helping PSG make history on the morning of June 1st.

Not only has Dembele exploded in the Champions League, but he has also maintained top form across all competitions.
