Hanoi University of Science and Technology establishes a new institute.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology has just established the Institute for Research and Application of Artificial Intelligence, the first specialized research institute in the country in this field.

The decision was announced this morning, October 24th. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phi Le, from the School of Information Technology and Communications, has been assigned the task of managing the Institute for Research and Application of Artificial Intelligence.

Associate Professor Huynh Quyet Thang, Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that interdisciplinary research on artificial intelligence applications is an urgent need to maximize the power of AI in various professions and fields.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology has established the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research and Application with the expectation of leveraging its multidisciplinary strengths and creating interdisciplinary artificial intelligence research groups of regional caliber.

The institute's medium-term and long-term orientation is to promote and "deeply integrate" artificial intelligence into scientific and technological fields and life, enhancing capabilities and intelligence in machine learning... The institute will have 6 laboratories, including: Machine Learning, Smart Semiconductor Technology, Smart Life Sciences, Smart Environment, Smart Systems, and Smart Education .

The institute aims to establish at least one strong research group by 2030 and become one of the leading centers for innovation, development of artificial intelligence solutions and applications in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, this is the first specialized research unit in the country focusing on interdisciplinary research and application of artificial intelligence. The Ministry of Education and Training expects the institute to create groundbreaking research with practical applications.

Thus, as of now, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has 6 schools, 6 research institutes, 4 faculties managing specific disciplines, and 3 general education faculties.
