Many memorable moments
In 2024, tourism promotion achieved many significant milestones, especially in the international market. Vietnam's tourism industry participated in booths at four major, prestigious regional and international tourism fairs; organized nine programs to introduce Vietnamese tourism and connect businesses, as well as cultural and tourism festivals in 11 countries, territories, and 16 cities.
Tourism promotion activities abroad have essentially been restored to the scale, number, and frequency seen before the COVID-19 pandemic. These activities have also been progressively innovated in form and content, and upgraded in scale and scope.
Tourism promotion has been linked to cultural, artistic, and culinary activities; and to diplomatic activities of government leaders in other countries.
According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong, there will be three overseas tourism and cultural promotion programs in 2024 attended and addressed by the Prime Minister. This sends a strong message about strengthening and innovating activities to promote and publicize the national image in the new context.
According to Mr. Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the local tourism industry actively collaborated with the Vietnam National Tourism Administration and relevant localities in promotional programs in Taiwan (China) and Australia this year to boost the exploitation of several markets showing strong growth.
Tourism promotion and marketing efforts have made a positive contribution to achieving Vietnam's tourism industry goals for 2024. By the end of November 2024, Vietnam is expected to welcome 15.8 million international visitors and serve 105 million domestic tourists. Total tourism revenue is projected to reach 758 trillion VND.
Strengthening connections
According to the national tourism promotion plan for 2025, the Vietnam National Tourism Administration will intensify tourism promotion in markets with remaining potential and strong growth prospects.
Maintain and expand traditional markets with high market share such as China, Japan, South Korea, and ASEAN; invest more heavily and effectively in high-spending markets such as Europe, Australia, and the US, as well as new and potential markets such as India, the Middle East, and South America.
To mark the National Tourism Year of Hue 2025, an international conference on cultural industries serving tourism development will be held, and the National Tourism Year of Hue program will be organized in Europe.
According to Deputy Minister Ho An Phong, this is not just an event for Hue alone. Localities, especially the five provinces and cities in the "Magical Heritage Region" tourism linkage, need to cooperate closely to promote tourism and quantify the results of this collaboration.
"Furthermore, both Quang Nam and Kon Tum provinces have registered to organize the Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival in 2025. Perhaps the two provinces should sit down together to coordinate the organization of a national festival and promote the brand internationally. If both sides agree, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is ready to work with the two localities to make it happen," Deputy Minister Ho An Phong suggested.
According to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the collaboration between the State and businesses, and between businesses and the community, in promoting and introducing destinations is very important. Tourism promotion efforts in recent times have significantly overcome the situation of each party acting independently. If the relevant parties, from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, localities, and businesses, cooperate, the promotion efforts will be much more effective.
