On July 22, the Gia Lai Provincial Center for Disease Control said that since the beginning of 2023, the whole province has recorded more than 1,400 cases of dengue fever, accounting for more than 50% of dengue fever cases in the entire Central Highlands region.
Accordingly, dengue fever has appeared in 146/220 communes, wards and towns of 17 districts, towns and cities of Gia Lai province. Of which, Duc Co and Krong Pa districts are the two localities with the most complicated dengue fever outbreak with more than 460 cases.

According to the Gia Lai Health Department, the main cause of the increase in dengue fever and hand, foot and mouth disease cases in recent times is due to the alternating rainy and sunny weather, changing abnormally, creating favorable conditions for the disease to develop, with many potential risks of spreading.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dong - Deputy Director of the Center for Disease Control of Gia Lai province informed that dengue fever epidemic will continue to develop more complicatedly in the coming time. Currently, the unit has reported to the Department of Health and established a working group to the localities to resolutely direct activities to prevent and control dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease; strengthen commune health teams; conduct mosquito and larva extermination; timely examination and treatment.
Gia Lai Health Department recommends that people should proactively implement measures to maintain personal hygiene and the living environment around the house. Use mosquito and insect repellants that are effective and safe for health. When there are signs of high fever, vomiting, dizziness, decreased platelet count or red spots on the skin or oral mucosa, you should promptly go to the nearest medical facility for examination and treatment, do not arbitrarily use drugs or treat with unscientific methods...
