According to reports, with only three weeks left until Lunar New Year, many beauty salons are already fully booked. The clientele consists mainly of women of various ages and professions, from factory workers and office staff to small business owners and freelancers. With the mindset of "Looking beautiful for Tet," many women are willing to spend time and money on beauty treatments and makeovers, hoping to look radiant and confident in the new year.

Ms. Luu Phuong Thuy (owner of Bao Ngoc permanent makeup studio) advises customers on services.

At Bao Ngoc tattoo and beauty salon in Yen Bai ward, even though it was only around 9 am, there was already a large number of customers seeking consultations and services. The cosmetic tattooing and skincare treatment beds were almost always occupied. Staff worked continuously, taking advantage of every spare moment to serve customers.

Sharing her reasons for getting beauty treatments early, Ms. Do Thuy, from Nguyen Thai Hoc 14 residential area, Yen Bai ward, said: "At the end of the year, there's a lot of work. If I wait until close to Tet (Lunar New Year) to get beauty treatments, I'll have to wait a long time and it will be very rushed. Therefore, I try to arrange my time to get treatments early, about 3-4 weeks before Tet, to be more proactive."

Not only are customers proactively getting beauty treatments early, but beauty salons are also encouraging people to book appointments in advance. This helps reduce overcrowding on peak days and allows salons to better manage staffing and service schedules. In addition, many promotional programs and discounts on various service packages are being implemented to attract customers and show appreciation to loyal patrons throughout the past year.

According to Ms. Luu Phuong Thuy (owner of Bao Ngoc permanent makeup salon), the number of customers during the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) increases many times compared to normal days. The most popular services chosen by customers are eyebrow embroidery, lip tattooing, and skincare.

"During this period, the demand for beauty services is high, so we have to work continuously, extending our service hours throughout the day. The prices of services range from a few hundred thousand to several million dong depending on the treatment, but generally, customers are quite comfortable with the cost as they consider it a necessary expense for Tet," Thuy said.

Women often choose to get beauty treatments early to avoid being overwhelmed during the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year).

Along with tattooing and skincare services, hair salons are also entering their busiest time of year. Since the Lunar New Year, the number of customers getting their hair done has increased rapidly, especially for perms, dyeing, and hair restoration. Mr. Trieu Long, the owner of a hair salon in Yen Bai ward, said that on average, his salon serves about 15-20 customers per day, and this number can be even higher during peak periods.

“The closer it gets to Tet (Lunar New Year), the more customers we have. Besides the main stylists, we have to recruit apprentices to help with the simpler tasks. Some days we work until late at night to finish,” Long shared. According to Long, customers usually choose hairstyles that suit their face shape, are easy to maintain, and last a long time during Tet.

Not only the business owner, but also the team of hairdressers have to work intensely. Nguyen Minh Thai, a hairdresser, said: “Normally, we work from 8 am to 8 pm, but in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the work sometimes ends at 11 or 12 midnight. Despite the hard work, we all try our best to serve customers attentively, ensuring they leave completely satisfied.”

For many women, changing their hairstyle remains a top choice for beauty treatments during Tet (Lunar New Year). Ms. Thanh Tu, from Nam Cuong ward, said that this year she chose a layered perm to create a fresh look for her face. However, because the hair treatment takes quite a long time, about 5-6 hours, she had to book an appointment a few days in advance and get it done early to avoid the crowds closer to Tet.

Hair salons are attracting many customers during the Lunar New Year holiday.

Besides hairdressing and permanent makeup services, the nail and eyelash care market is also booming. According to salon owners, the busiest time is usually about a week before Tet (Lunar New Year), when the demand for "all-inclusive" beauty treatments increases. Customers choose from a wide variety of nail designs, colors, and styles, ranging from gentle and delicate to bold and edgy.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Thao, owner of a nail salon in Yen Bai ward, said that the prices for nail services range from about 70,000 to 300,000 VND depending on the type. "The number of customers increases during the Tet holiday season, but the basic service prices remain stable compared to normal days. Because most of our customers are regulars, we keep the prices the same to retain them," Ms. Thao shared.

According to observations, beauty trends this year have changed compared to previous years. Instead of chasing elaborate beauty treatments, many customers prioritize skincare, skin restoration, and acne treatment services to help their skin become healthier and more natural. Beauty establishments are also proactively investing in modern equipment and technology to improve service quality and ensure customer safety. As Tet (Lunar New Year) approaches, many customers take advantage of after-hours beauty treatments or come in groups, forcing spas and salons to add staff and extend their operating hours. Despite the increased workload, most establishments strive to meet customer demand, considering this a "peak season" and an opportunity to show appreciation to customers throughout the past year.

Skincare and skin restoration are popular choices among many women.

Getting beauty treatments during Tet (Lunar New Year) is a legitimate need, contributing to women's confidence and radiance as they enter the new year. However, to achieve effective and safe beauty results, people need to carefully research information and choose reputable beauty salons with operating licenses, avoiding chasing trends or being tempted by cheap prices, which may pose health risks.

In the bustling atmosphere of the year-end season, the vibrancy of the beauty services market not only reflects people's desire to improve their quality of life but also contributes to creating a lively picture of urban life as Tet (Lunar New Year) approaches.
