Waiting point for the exam season to 'cool down'

Hanoi is simultaneously implementing various solutions to support candidates and parents throughout the 2026 10th grade entrance exam.

On May 30th and 31st, students will officially begin the 2026 Hanoi public high school entrance exam. In many central wards of Hanoi, preparations are being carried out urgently with a proactive approach from an early stage and in advance.

Series of support options

At many schools selected as examination venues, authorities continuously inspect the electrical and water systems, equipment, examination rooms, and contingency plans to facilitate the exam.

According to Mr. Pham Thanh Ha, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Giang Vo Ward, the Ward People's Committee and the Examination Steering Committee have proactively implemented many measures to ensure that the examination takes place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.

"The ward has reviewed and inspected the examination sites, requiring educational institutions to fully prepare facilities, electricity and water systems, information technology equipment, security plans for exam papers and answer sheets, as well as ensuring environmental hygiene and school safety," Mr. Ha said.

The ward also places special emphasis on coordination among forces to avoid being caught off guard in any situation. The ward police are responsible for developing plans to ensure security and order, and managing traffic flow; the medical force is in charge of food safety and handling medical incidents; and the youth union deploys "Exam Support" teams to assist candidates and parents at exam sites and waiting areas.

In Giang Vo ward, three waiting areas have been set up at Thanh Cong A Primary School, Kim Dong Primary School, and the Experimental Primary, Secondary, and High School for Science and Education. Each waiting area is equipped with seating, drinking water, and support staff to guide parents, preventing large crowds from gathering around the school gates.

Mr. Pham Thanh Ha said that, given the hot weather, the ward has also prepared contingency plans to deal with unusual situations such as power outages, heavy rain causing localized flooding, or traffic congestion around the exam site.

"We want the exam to be not only serious but also reassuring for parents and students. Support measures such as shaded waiting areas and volunteer guidance services all stem from the real needs of the people," Mr. Ha said.

On May 29th, at examination sites in Giang Vo ward, the ward's Youth Union deployed its members to assist functional forces in managing traffic flow and ensuring smooth traffic. They also guided parents waiting for their children at designated waiting areas prepared by the ward's People's Committee, preventing traffic congestion and maintaining order in the examination area.

In addition, volunteer forces are always on standby, ready to support candidates through the "Blue Shirts Carrying Pink Dreams" team, taking candidates to the correct examination locations and distributing water and snacks to ensure candidates maintain their spirits and health during the 10th grade high school entrance exam.

In Ngoc Ha ward, the Steering Committee for the 2026 examinations has proactively developed a plan to coordinate the organization of the 10th grade entrance exam and the high school graduation exam, with the requirement to ensure safety, seriousness, and objectivity.

According to Ms. Ngo Thuy Lan, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Ngoc Ha Ward, this year the locality is simultaneously serving as the examination center for the non-specialized 10th grade entrance exam, the specialized entrance exam, and the high school graduation exam at Ba Dinh Secondary School, so the preparation work has been carried out very meticulously.

"The ward has assigned specific tasks to each force, from the police, health services, electricity, urban environment, to the youth union, to ensure the exam takes place as safely and smoothly as possible for the candidates," Ms. Lan added.

According to the plan, the exam site at Ba Dinh Secondary School is expected to have 24 exam rooms for non-specialized 10th-grade students, 21 exam rooms for specialized students, and will continue to serve the high school graduation exam in June.

Meanwhile, in Hong Ha ward, the People's Committee has requested secondary schools in the area to proactively coordinate in reviewing enrollment data, assigning student codes, and guiding parents to monitor academic results and online exam results.

Local authorities also requested schools to coordinate with ward police to assist in issuing citizen identification cards and level 2 electronic identification for students to facilitate the enrollment process; and at the same time, strengthen communication to ensure parents and students are aware of the new regulations for this year's exam.

According to the schedule for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year, candidates will register for the exam starting on May 29th; take the Literature, Foreign Language, and Mathematics exams on May 30th and 31st; and the specialized subject exam will take place on June 1st.
