On the afternoon of November 6, Ea Sup District Police ( Dak Lak Province) said that the unit is temporarily detaining Mr. Ho Van Dinh (40 years old, residing in Cu Mlan Commune, Ea Sup District) to take statements to clarify the entire cause of the incident where a tractor ran over two people taking shelter from the rain, causing death.

Mr. Ho Van Dinh works at the police department.

According to information from the police, on November 5, Mr. Dinh hired 6 people to go to the field in village 7, Cu M'lan commune to pull cassava.

Among these people are Mr. NVK (28 years old, residing in Cu M'lan commune) and Ms. LTH (27 years old, residing in Cu K'bang commune, Ea Sup district).

At around 4 p.m. the same day, while everyone was loading cassava into Mr. Dinh's tractor, it started to rain heavily. Therefore, Mr. K., Ms. H. and the others hid under the truck to take shelter from the rain.

A moment later, Mr. Dinh went to the back of the tractor and saw rainwater running down the truck bed, wetting the people sitting underneath.

At this time, Mr. Dinh went up to start the engine to raise the truck bed so that the rainwater could flow out the back, not wetting the people sitting in the car.

The scene of the incident.

However, because the tractor was still in gear and had the rear axle engaged, when Mr. Dinh turned the key to start the vehicle, it immediately moved forward.

When he heard the person under the truck screaming, Mr. Dinh quickly used his foot to step on the brake and release the gas to stop the car. However, the incident caused Mr. K. and Ms. H. to be run over by the wheel, dying on the spot.

The police are currently investigating the incident. After the incident, local authorities sent people to visit, offer condolences and support the victims’ families in funeral arrangements./.
