On the afternoon of June 19, the National Press Forum 2025 officially opened, promising to bring discussion sessions with attractive topics, related to the top concerns of press agencies, management levels and the press public.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association .

Also attending were Mr. Le Hai Binh, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ms. Nguyen Thi Su, Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency; Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of Grassroots Information and External Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Presenting at the event, Mr. Le Quoc Minh summarized some highlights in the media-journalism trends in the world .

The biggest challenges today are the pressure on speed and fake news causing confusion, reducing the reputation of the press if the source of information is not well controlled; difficulty in controlling content when there is a lot of bad news, fake news, and incorrect information on social networks, making it difficult for journalists to verify; competition and platform dependence because the press increasingly has to rely on social networks to reach readers, thereby gradually losing control of the "original source of information".

However, the new era also brings many opportunities for the press to assert its leading role. It is an opportunity for comprehensive digital transformation, leveraging technology to improve content quality, personalize user experience and expand distribution channels.

According to Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh, press agencies should stop trying to please all readers and instead focus resources on high-value content that is clearly different from the synthetic answers from AI search engines.

Specifically, press agencies need to develop a comprehensive digital transformation strategy; apply AI to the journalism process; automate news production and analyze big data; personalize content; use AI to support reader interaction; verify and detect fake news; strengthen cooperation and ensure professional ethics; promote the creation of digital journalism products, diversify revenue sources, etc.

Journalist Le Quoc Minh suggested solutions to increase revenue, including not relying solely on advertising, but developing new revenue sources such as reader fees, organizing events, media services, content production cooperation, copyright sales, revenue from digital platforms, column sponsorship, etc.

Citing the special products of Nhan Dan Newspaper that have "caused a stir" recently, the Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association commented: Press agencies that find a way to balance digital innovation and traditional values will have the most opportunities to maintain reader engagement, increase brand value and ensure a sustainable business model in the new era.

“The press needs to exploit its strengths in expertise, trust and authority to help readers avoid getting lost between the line between real and fake information. Instead of trying to please every reader, press agencies should focus resources on high-value and different content that does not overlap with the answers that AI can easily provide,” Mr. Le Quoc Minh emphasized./.
