Speaking at the Forum, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong said that 2026 is a pivotal year for Vietnam as it is the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Party with the goal of achieving double-digit growth.
To achieve this goal, Vietnam cannot continue to rely primarily on traditional growth factors, which are gradually reaching their limits, but needs to shift strongly towards a growth model based on science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
"This will be the core, decisive driving force for the rapid and sustainable development of the country in the coming period," Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong emphasized.
According to Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong, at the conference summarizing one year of implementing Resolution 57 of the Politburo , the Central Steering Committee on Science and Technology Development, Innovation and Digital Transformation identified 2025 as the "start-up and momentum-building" phase, while 2026 will be the "acceleration" phase with the motto "Breakthrough action, spreading results".
From the perspective of a digital technology business, Mr. Ngo Dien Hy - Vice Chairman of VINASA, commented that Vietnam is entering a new phase of development, in which the quality of growth will increasingly depend on the capacity to master technology and innovate.
According to Mr. Hy, the Party, State, and Government have opened up many important mechanisms for the digital technology sector through Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, along with a new legal framework such as the Law on Digital Technology Industry and the Sandbox testing mechanism for new technologies. What remains is decisive action from the digital technology business community.
At the Forum, experts, managers, and digital technology businesses exchanged various solutions for developing digital infrastructure, improving policy mechanisms, and promoting the application of AI in production and business.
Many believe that, in order to achieve double-digit growth targets, digital technology businesses will play a crucial role in improving productivity, optimizing operations, and creating new growth drivers.
Delegates also emphasized the need to increase investment in research and development (R&D), expand the Sandbox testing mechanism, and gradually master core technologies such as AI, cloud computing, robotics, semiconductors, and quantum technology. This is considered the foundation for Vietnamese technology businesses to enhance their competitiveness and expand their development space in the future.
