After renovation, the Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square area, spanning 1.4 hectares, has become a spacious green space connecting to the Hoan Kiem Old Quarter, and the pedestrian area along Hoan Kiem Lake has become a community gathering place.
Currently, in the square area, the local authorities have placed many square-shaped flower pots, featuring the symbol of Khue Van Cac, to both enhance urban aesthetics and ensure safety for recreational activities inside.

In particular, the area formerly occupied by the "Shark's Jaw" building (at 7-9 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Hoan Kiem Ward), after its demolition, has now been fitted with a large LED screen. This serves both to promote and publicize the image of the area and to create an impressive visual highlight for residents and tourists visiting the square.
On Dinh Tien Hoang street, the parking lot has been relocated, the median strip removed, and traffic has been reorganized more efficiently. Rows of trees have been arranged to naturally separate the lanes.

In response to some dissenting opinions suggesting that the renovated Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square lacks harmony with the overall, ancient landscape of Hoan Kiem Lake, a representative of the Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee stated that after phase 1, the space of Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square has been expanded and made more open, serving the public.
In the coming period, the Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee will continue to implement phase 2 of the square renovation and beautification project, focusing on the organization of architectural and landscape space, such as the placement of the light tower and underground sections; researching the reconstruction of the facades of the relevant streets within the planning research boundary; researching the overall paving of the square area; and adding urban amenities.

Regarding the planning of underground construction, according to the overall site plan, Hoan Kiem ward will study the construction of an underground space of approximately 3 basement levels beneath the main square, with plans to allocate cultural and commercial space on basement level 1 and parking on basement levels 2 and 3.
