His appearance in The Marvels only lasted a few seconds, but it was a large-scale scene, so it was filmed elaborately, and the makeup took a long time to create.
Previously, he had a small role in the film Doctor Strange (2016), also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In Doctor Strange, Tien Hoang appeared for a few seconds in a scene at the Kamar-Taj temple, where the main character Stephen Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) is observing the Ancient Master (Tilda Swinton) teaching magic to two students.
One of the two characters was played by Tien Hoang, whose face was clearly visible for a second. He also appeared in the same frame as actress Tilda Swinton.
Some time after Doctor Strange was released in theaters, Tien Hoang was mentioned in the Vietnamese press.
He revealed that he was lucky to have a friend who knew the action director of the film. Thanks to this film, he went on to work on other Hollywood movies.
Tien Hoang was born in 1993 in Hanoi and moved with his family to London, England, at the age of 11. He studied Shaolin martial arts in England and pursued a career as an action actor. His first role was in the Indian action film Yamla Pagla Deewana.
Starting with minor roles, Tien Hoang gradually landed more prominent roles in Hollywood films. These include: Doctor Strange, Ready Player One, Star Wars: Han Solo, The Covenant, The Witcher, and later, The Marvels.
In 2021, he starred in the Vietnamese action film "The Great Martial Arts Student," but the film was not successful at the box office. Currently, Tien Hoang is still looking for acting opportunities in international films.
