After July 1st, 2025, the new Dien Xa commune will be established based on the merger of Dien Xa commune, Ha Lau commune, and a part of Yen Than commune, with a total area of over 240km² and over 85% of the population being ethnic minorities. “Although 2025 presents many challenges, it is encouraging that the commune will maintain stable development. After the merger, the commune's space will be expanded, and its strengths and resources will be connected, creating more room for effective exploitation of local potential,” shared Mr. Luong Viet Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Xa commune.

One of the most distinctive features of Dien Xa is the way the locality preserves its indigenous cultural values, transforming culture into a spiritual foundation and a resource for development. By 2025, the commune had put all 19/19 village cultural houses into operation, meeting the standards for community activities; while maintaining the Then singing and Dan Tinh playing clubs, preserving the customs of the Dao and Tay people.
A prominent highlight in the preservation and promotion of cultural values in Dien Xa is the regular organization of the Ha Lau Market - a "living heritage" of the highland community. After a period of decline, the Ha Lau Market was restored and resumed operation from the end of 2018, showcasing the local character and held regularly on Sundays. Notably, from November 2025, Dien Xa commune boldly organized livestreaming of local agricultural products at the market, aiming to promote the unique image of the market, attract tourists, and boost the digital economy .
Furthermore, Dien Xa also possesses significant historical value with its preserved historical sites, such as the Khe Giao historical site and the Dien Xa victory site on Highway 4 (March 4, 1949), which were recognized as provincial-level historical sites in 2004.
With these strengths, the commune has developed a tourism development plan until 2030, with a vision for 2045, shaping tourism development based on the Tay and Dao ethnic identities; linking the preservation and promotion of historical sites and culture with the development of tourism products; and transforming traditional values into development advantages.

In the overall development picture, agriculture and forestry continue to be the pillars of Dien Xa, linked to the development of OCOP products and safe production standards. Notable examples include the 3-star OCOP-certified Tien Yen commercial chicken; and the organic green vegetable farming model, yielding a profit of approximately 50 million VND/hectare, affirming the direction of green agriculture. To date, Dien Xa's agricultural products have become increasingly diverse, including: wild eggplant, star geese, Chẹo mushrooms, upland rice, Dớn vegetables, Ha Lau honey, etc. In particular, the commencement of the Yen Than Industrial Cluster in June 2025 is expected to create new momentum for the processing and consumption of agricultural and forestry products.

Alongside economic development, digital transformation has been identified as a foundation supporting socio-economic development in Dien Xa, with clear indicators: 100% of administrative work is processed electronically; 100% of villages have 3G/4G coverage. Digital transformation is implemented in conjunction with building smart new rural areas and promoting "digital literacy for the masses".

In 2026, Dien Xa commune has identified it as the "year of acceleration - the year of operational standardization," focusing on completing the restructured government apparatus; continuing to promote local cultural values, perfecting agricultural and tourism product chains, with a focus on making Ha Lau's local culture the core of community tourism development, and accelerating digital transformation. The commune strives to achieve a total product value of approximately 750.6 billion VND, while improving social and environmental indicators, gradually completing the criteria for advanced new rural development, and aiming for sustainable development.
