BTO-This morning (December 3), the Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited sent an official dispatch to the People's Committee of Tuy Phong district regarding the plan to regulate water through the overflow of irrigation reservoirs in the area.
Accordingly, on the evening of December 2, there was heavy rain in the upstream area of Long Song and Phan Dung lakes. As of 00:00 on December 3, the water level of Long Song lake was at +77.01 m and was continuing to rise; the water level of Phan Dung lake was at +206.8 m, 0.4 m higher than the normal water level and was continuing to rise rapidly.
At the same time, the National Center for Hydrometeorology forecasts that in the coming days, there will continue to be rain in the province. To ensure the safety of the project and reduce flooding in the downstream area when heavy rain occurs, Binh Thuan Irrigation Construction and Development Company Limited will regulate water through the spillway of Long Song reservoir. The regulation time is 5:00 a.m. on December 3, with a flow rate of 10 m3/s. After 8:00 a.m. on the same day, depending on the flow to the reservoir and the downstream situation, the flow rate will increase from 30 - 150 m3/s.
Along with the regulation through the spillway of Long Song reservoir, the Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited also announced a plan to regulate water through the spillway of Phan Dung reservoir to ensure the safety of the reservoir. The regulation time is at 5:00 a.m. on December 3, the flow will be regulated at 10 m3/s; after 7:00 a.m. on the same day, depending on the flow to the reservoir and the downstream situation, the flow will increase from 15 - 120 m3/s.
To avoid property damage to people in affected areas, the Company requests the People's Committee of Tuy Phong district to promptly notify people along the flood discharge route of Long Song and Phan Dung lakes so that they can proactively take safety precautions.
