At around 1:15 p.m. the same day, people discovered smoke and fire coming from a warehouse located in an alley on Tran Xuan Soan Street (Tan Hung Ward, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City) and shouted. Some people used water and fire extinguishers to put out the fire but were unsuccessful.

Because the warehouse contained many flammable items, the fire burned fiercely, with smoke rising dozens of meters high and threatening to spread to surrounding houses.
