On the evening of May 13, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Hanoi City Police, said that the city police decided to temporarily suspend Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam, a police officer of Duong Noi ward, for 30 days in connection with the case of being accused of assaulting a girl.
According to Major General Tung, this decision is to serve the investigation and verification of the case. If any officer violates the law, the authorities will strictly handle it.
Previously, Facebook spread information reflecting signs of wrongdoing by police officers of Duong Noi ward (Ha Dong district) while working at a company in the area.
According to the post, on May 6, Duong Noi Ward Police came to inspect and clarify some information related to security and order at a company located in La Duong service land (Ha Dong).
At this time, the company's surveillance camera recorded the scene of the officers of the strike team, including a man in plain clothes, a blue short-sleeved shirt, asking people present at the company to show their ID cards and put their phones on the table.
Then, a girl (believed to be the company owner's younger sister) stood up to talk and discuss with the working group members.
The clip does not clearly record the content of the exchange, however, the man in plain clothes suddenly swung his arm and slapped the girl several times on the head. The girl sat down on the ground, crying loudly.
Shortly after, the owner of the company returned. The poster said that the reason the girl was beaten was because she was discovered using her phone to record the incident.
