Orientation to become the clean energy center of the Central region

With advantages in natural resources such as wind, sunshine, etc., Quang Tri province has become one of the pioneering localities in developing clean energy and renewable energy; at the same time, Quang Tri province still has a lot of room to realize the orientation of becoming a clean energy center of the Central region.

Currently, Quang Tri province has 31 wind power projects approved for planning with a total capacity of nearly 1,180MW; 3 solar power projects with a total capacity of nearly 150MWp; 1 coal-fired thermal power plant project with a capacity of 1,320MW; 2 gas-fired power projects with a total capacity of 1,840MW; 18 hydropower projects with a total capacity of 260.5MW.

To date, 20 wind power projects with a total capacity of 742.2MW, 3 solar power projects with a total capacity of 119.6MW, 11 hydropower projects with a total capacity of 167.5MW and rooftop solar power systems with a total capacity of more than 150.7MW have been put into commercial operation.

In addition, Quang Tri province also implemented a number of important power source projects, namely: B&T Wind Power Farm Cluster Project with an installed capacity of 252MW, total investment capital of 8,113 billion VND. The project has been completed and is generating commercial electricity, generating an average of 550-560 million kWh per year.

Dohwa-Le Thuy solar power project invested by Dohwa Green Energy Co., Ltd. (under Dohwa Engineering Group - Korea), has a capacity of 49.5MWp, total investment capital of 1,037 billion VND, and generates 59-61 million kWh annually.

On the other hand, Quang Tri province proposed that the Prime Minister consider and supplement about 1,500-2,000 MW of onshore wind power capacity and 2,600-4,000 MW of offshore wind power. Develop other gas industrial facilities in the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone; develop green hydrogen and green ammonia projects from renewable energy sources...
